13/8
Has an unblemished record here (3/3) and ran out a very comfortable win on his last start at the course in a race run to suit. All his wins have come over shorter though and both his starts at this trip have been poor; up 9lb here.

Current yard look to have rejuvenated him of late and he appears to be able to cope with this trip now. Tried over even further last time out at Cartmel (shaped well enough) but seemingly found out by the trip; handicapper may have him now.

Looks to be the second string of the leading trainer here who was a 6L winner over C&D off a 12lb lower mark in July. Might have been found out by soft ground last time out and not written off if the ground doesn't deteriorate.

On a long losing run now but a couple of his recent runs suggest that he is coming back to some sort of form, especially here last time out. Now back well below his last winning mark and claims off the same mark as last time out.

17/2
In good form last year when he won four races back-to-back with the first two of that sequence coming here over shorter. Not really seen to best effect in a couple of starts here this year (both over shorter) although his mark is a little high.

Forecasts

Mountain King (13/8), Baileys Concerto (11/4), The Clock Leary (3/1), Urtheoneiwant (8/1), Amilliontimes (17/2)

Verdict

Gordon Elliott has two reasonable chances, although Mountain King is off a tough mark over a longer trip and Urtheoneiwant perhaps doesn't have ground conditions to suit. The Clock Leary has been running well and having proven he stays this trip, is in with a chance. However, this may fall the way of BAILEYS CONCERTO. He’s not won for a while but looked on the way back last time and this mark is very workable as he bids to end his drought.
  1. Baileys Concerto
  2. The Clock Leary
  3. Mountain King
