Came back to form here in July with two solid runs (one over C&D) but has shown little spark since in two Flat runs. May well fare better on his return to hurdles but still 16lb above his last winning mark.
In terrific form in July racking up a treble in handicaps with the first two coming over shorter trips here before scoring at Uttoxeter off a mark of 105. Had his winning run ended by a punitive 10lb rise and goes again off the same mark over a longer trip.
Looked to spring to life on his handicap debut at Southwell off a mark of 107 over a shorter trip but has failed to back that up in two runs since. Longer trip doesn't look the most obvious move given his recent form over shorter.
Showed the benefit of settling better when winning a novice hurdle here over shorter on her penultimate start. Up in trip last time out she wasn't seen to best effect at Hexham (made a rapid move into contention) but still interesting on handicap debut.
Placed four times since getting off the mark at Sedgefield in March and has run with credit on his last two starts here, the last time over this trip. This a little tougher but he looks held off a mark such as this having been beaten off it twice.
Unreliable and often awkward looking hurdler when with Chris Gordon and has offered little on two starts since being transferred to his current yard. Test of stamina will suit but his form at the moment is hardly compelling.
Well-backed on his handicap debut when with Dan Skelton, his two runs subsequently were decent and ran into a smart one last time out at Worcester. Now with a new yard but would have to be respected on that last run and worth a look in the market.
Very much a surprise winner over C&D off a mark of 95 in July taking advantage of a much-reduced mark. Underlined his inconsistency on his last two starts and very hard to catch right off a 3lb higher mark here.
Forecasts
Pikarnia (2/1), Charlie Papa Lima (5/2), Green Zone (5/1), Ebony Rose (15/2), Dawerann (15/2), Native Optimist (22/1), Letemgo (33/1), Sierra Oscar (50/1)
Gordon Elliott runners are always to be respected here but Dawerann may just have problems conceding weight all round here while the consistent Pikarnia looks held off this mark. Charlie Papa Lima wears a first-time hood but has hardly looked in need of this step-up in trip and the same remarks could apply to Green Zone. Sierra Oscar is interesting at the bigger prices but the suggestion is EBONY ROSE on her handicap debut, especially if she gets a more measured ride this time around.
- Ebony Rose
- Sierra Oscar
- Dawerann
