Victorious over 2m at Sligo (soft-to-heavy) on his penultimate outing and a fair effort when sixth off this mark at Bellewstwown (good) subsequently. Softer ground forecast here should suit.

Put in some decent efforts this summer and recorded a career best effort when winning a 20 runner handicap hurdle at Down Royal (yielding) earlier this month. One for the shortlist despite a 6lb rise in the weights.

Narrowly failed to complete a hat-trick following two chase victories when beaten a nose over an extended 2m3f on good ground here last month. Usually races close to the pace and likely to run well again today.

Placed over an extended 2m5f at Downpatrick (good) in May and ran well when fourth at Ballinrobe subsequently. Better ground forecast today should suit having disappointing on soft-to-heavy going at Sligo last time.

Forecasts

Sierra Law (2/1), The Trigger (4/1), Kilkeaskins First (7/1), Vintage Salon (7/1), Omega Springs (8/1), My Betty (9/1), Broughtons Star (10/1), Rock On Rosie (14/1), Euro So Brave (16/1), Aunt Eileen (20/1), Solent Lad (25/1), U S Navy Seal (25/1), Daigreen (25/1), Profoundly (33/1)

Verdict

SIERRA LAW can follow up his Down Royal victory by taking this competitive looking handicap hurdle. Karl Thornton's charge had been running well in handicap company prior to that and can defy a 6lb rise to see off The Trigger who was narrowly beaten over C&D last time out. Omega Springs is taken to put a disappointing effort at Downpatrick last time out behind him by claiming third in this.
  1. Sierra Law
  2. The Trigger
  3. Omega Springs
