For a stable that are going really well with their sprinters this year he's contributed by winning a couple of 6f Hamilton handicaps. Up another 4lb here and looks one who could his own in better grade and may have to soon.
Has some very good handicap/sprinting form for his previous yards and has the look of one who could make the most of a falling mark. However he can be a tricky ride and needs to apply himself better than he did over C&D last time out.
May well face an easier task here than he has faced all year having run in some hot handicaps and while he has shaped well enough he has not looked like winning. This slight ease in grade is probably what he needs and should be respected here.
A capable if rather inconsistent sprinter who ran his best race of the season last time out when winning over C&D off a mark of 81. Only up 2lb for that win and has run well off higher in the past so could well run his race here.
More miss than hit of late although he has run some races that make you think that he could win off this sort of mark which is only 2lb above his last wining one. Ran one of his better races last time out but no guarantee he will follow that up.
Off the mark on his penultimate start when he turned in his best effort for ages winning off a 6lb lower mark at Pontefract over this trip. Wasn't in the same form on his last start and this looks tougher.
Won a brace of big-field 5f handicaps last season and his best effort this year also came over that trip. This 6f trip might not suit him and even with the tongue-tie on for the first time he could be tested by the 6f here.
His return this season on the AW at Wolverhampton showed some promise but he never really followed that up and disappointed both times. Back from an absence now with a bit to prove against some decent sprinters.
Productive is the word to describe his season in 2017 with four wins on his CV the latest coming off a mark of 74. Slight suspicion that the handicapper may well have him in his grip now after his latest two starts.
Certainly doesn't look straightforward at all and remains a maiden with his task here looking to be a stiff one.
Dual winner over 5f at Nottingham this year on both occasions with cut in the ground but disappointed at her favourite track last time (possibly found quicker conditions against her). Winning has been done in a lower grade and this looks harder.
Forecasts
Russian Realm (9/2), Manshood (5/1), Hyperfocus (11/2), Englishman (11/2), Cosmic Chatter (11/2), Laughton (9/1), Toofi (10/1), Meshardal (18/1), Sitar (20/1), Somewhere Secret (50/1), Van Gerwen (50/1)
One of two exacting (in betting terms) sprint handicaps on the card but the progressive MANSHOOD may well be the one to stay with here as he’s looked as though he can hold his own in a better grade with his yard being very adept with heir sprinters. Hyperfocus should appreciate this slight ease in grade and can make his mark while it’s hard to write off Russian Realm after his win over C&D last time giving Paul Midgley a good second string to the bow. Toofi really ought to able to win off this sort of mark but will more than likely flatter only to deceive once more.
- Manshood
- Russian Realm
- Hyperfocus
