6/1
Dark Angel colt who cost €150,000 as a yearling. Plenty of promise in starts at Salisbury and Newbury, on the latter occasion taking a keen hold and still showing signs of greenness. Improvement on the cards, but wide draw not ideal.

Four starts have revealed plenty of ability, including when second at this track. Beaten at odds-on at Epsom in his next race, but ran respectably in a decent nursery at Goodwood last time. Tries 7f for the first time and it ought to suit.

Last three starts have seen him settle for minor honours, including when odds-on on his most recent outing. The latest reverse was over 1m and there is a good chance this shorter trip will be more to his liking.

25/1
Society Rock colt who cost €18,000 at the breeze-up sales this year and is a half-brother to some useful performers. Did most of his best work in the final furlong over 6f on debut at Hamilton so this step up in trip should be in his favour.

25/1
Medicean colt who was not disgraced on debut at Sandown. Should come on for the experience, but stable not noted for the volume of its two-year-old winners.

In the frame on all three starts, showing plenty of promise, and ran into a crackerjack juvenile in Expert Eye on second start, when odds-on. Hot favourite when defeated again last time, but may be worth one last chance.

12/1
Son of high-class two-year-old Fast Company who cost 75,000 gns as a yearling and is a brother to useful miler Mutarakez. Stable does well at its local track, but widest draw is an issue on this colt's debut.

Forecasts

Mutakatif (13/8), Carouse (5/2), Cosa Nostra (5/1), Ateem (6/1), Spud (12/1), Gabrials Centurion (25/1), Manor Park (25/1), Isabella Ruby (33/1)

Verdict

One or two of these are talented, but are starting to become frustrating. Carouse, Cosa Nostra and MUTAKATIF fall under this category, and the latter is given one last chance from his plum draw. Ateem is a promising sort, but his outside draw is offputting, while Gabrials Centurion should step up on his debut run over this longer trip and Spud represents a yard which does well at this track.
  1. Mutakatif
  2. Carouse
  3. Cosa Nostra
