Good winner over hurdles at Southwell in June (form franked by the second) but couldn't repeat that here at Worcester next time. Chase efforts so far have seen him make mistakes, so really needs to tidy that up, but on a good mark and not ruled out.

Had been a bit disappointing but came good at Market Rasen in no uncertain terms last time (well backed to do so). This trip seems to suit better than shorter and ground won't be an issue, so chances of the follow-up from 11lb higher.

On a good mark now but that only reflects some moderate efforts, both over fences and hurdles lately. Trip and likely ground fine but needs to start putting some fluency into his jumping to hold best chance. Yard going better now, though.

Has the size and shape to make a decent chaser and has made a good fist of it in two attempts so far, just denied at Southwell and then drop back to 2m4f possibly not in his favour last time, Back to 3m here and a solid chance.

Took a bad fall at Hexham (hurdles) in May and recent form seems to have suffered, possibly as a result. Last of eight behind Theo last time, showing little spark, and makes little appeal despite falling handicap mark.

Tends to go off at a rate of knots in her races, did make all in a three-runner affair at Towcester in May but usually found wanting at the business end. Upped in trip here too, and others make more appeal.

Useful handicap hurdler when the ground is on the quick side, another solid effort over hurdles when last seen but chasing debut today and pedigree hardly that of a chaser. Nevertheless, yard going well and deserves some respect.

Forecasts

Paddy's Field (2/1), Washed Ashore (10/3), Cuirassier Dempire (9/2), Lord Topper (6/1), Sheer Poetry (10/1), Doitforjoe (11/1), Earls Fort (11/1), Rakaia Rosa (40/1)

Verdict

Rakaia Rose will ensure there's no hanging around, but she's rather lost her way and preference is for CULRASSIER D'EMPIRE, made for chasing and will be winning races over fences sooner rather than later. The step back up to 3m should see a bit of improvement and he's taken to come out on top. Washed Ashore looks happier the further he goes and can chase him home. Paddy's Field will be dangerous when he puts a clear round in.
