In better form than a few of these at present and went very close at Chelmsford two starts ago, the post just coming too soon for him. Clearly stays well and if handling this surface, looks a player in a very moderate race.

Knows his way around here backwards and has won on the surface. Looks ready for another crack at this trip after a staying-on eighth at Redcar last time and from such a low mark, any money for him should be strongly noted.

Wasn't really going anywhere on the Flat when last seen in the discipline but has performed with credit in a couple of maiden hurdles at Huntingdon since then. Needs to translate that improvement back to the Flat now but chances if he can.

On a good mark these days and looked like he might be able to take advantage of it when a better second at Lingfield last time, although she looked like tailing off at one point. Unraced on the surface, which is a concern, and clearly risky.

Not been with the yard long (formerly with Tony Martin) and hasn't been pulling any trees up lately. Trip another big concern (best form at much shorter) and all in all, looks an unlikely winner here.

Not totally disgraced on handicap debut at Newcastle recently although that was a slowly run affair, ands he will need to settle better on this slower surface to get home here. However, open to improvement so not totally discounted.

Struggling for form and has barely beaten a horse home on any of his last four starts (pulled up here in March). Very hard to make a case for.

Step up to staying trips seems to have brought about a bit of improvement in him, but worrying that he's not beaten a horse home in two starts on the Fibresand and on that alone, others readily preferred.

It will be exactly 1000 days since Pahente last saw a racecourse, that being a second at Kempton over a mile and a half, so with such a big absence and the fact he's no form over the trip, he's not easy to fancy.

No win in 12 starts, yet to finish withing 10l of the winner on any occasion and yet to find out what his best trip actually is either. Very hard to fancy.

Not unfancied on handicap debut at Ffos Las a fortnight ago when sent off 5/1 for a 1m4f and although never looking the winner, stayed on to take second. Possible this further step up in trip will help and in such a moderate race, must have chances.

Plodded on when sixth at Beverley on her handicap debut recently, taking a big step up in trip there and may have more to come, but this surface a worry on pedigree and on that, others are preferred.

Finished four places in front of Legalized in that Beverley contest, sticking to the task quite well under pressure and may have more to offer. Sire gets the odd winner on the surface but just as many disappoint, so she comes with risks attached.

Not shown much so far but half-brother Ermyn Lodge stayed well (2m winner) and so this step up in trip may well help. Showed a bit more at Newcastle last time and despite some poor looking form figures, any money for her should be noted.

Forecasts

Stander (11/2), Esspeegee (13/2), Yasir (7/1), Legalized (7/1), Shine Baby Shine (8/1), Desktop (8/1), Astroshadow (8/1), Tynecastle Park (9/1), Toptempo (16/1), Toast Of London (20/1), Jeremy's Jet (20/1), Rob's Legacy (25/1), Pahente (50/1), Oracle Boy (200/1)

Verdict

Not many of these can be strongly fancied and it's the ones at the foot of the handicap that make a bit of appeal. STANDER looks the sort to improve again for a step up in trip and a bit of confidence in the market would make him look very interesting. The yard do well with the few raids they have on these shores and he gets the vote ahead of Shine Baby Shine, another that's unexposed and better can be expected stepping up in trip. Legalized and Astroshadow met at Beverley and the former may come out on top this time.
  1. Stander
  2. Shine Baby Shine
  3. Legalized
