Yet to prove himself over this trip although he did win his only handicap hurdle off a 2lb higher mark at Bangor (2m, heavy). Usually races prominently and now wears headgear having shown signs of temperament and offered little back from a break last time.
Has a record of 0/16 over hurdles but did take a little step back in the right direction returned to his original yard last time out at Perth over 3m. Overall his record isn't one that is bet compelling and he fell at the first on his previous start here.
Back over hurdles now having been given another go over fences here recently when well backed but still looking hard work. Did run better than for quite some while at Bangor over hurdles on penultimate start but doubts about stamina and attitude.
Of obvious interest given the stable change but unlike so not as well supported on debut and may well have needed the run on quicker ground than her win came on. Headgear combination stays the same here as she steps up in trip off a 3lb lower mark.
Built on some earlier promise he had shown this year when winning a C&D hurdle last time proving his stamina/resolution and made all off 77 in cheekpieces for the first time. Proved suited by aggressive tactics but has struggled to cope with marks like this in the past.
Record now stands at 0/30 over hurdles (placed nine times) and that shows how unreliable he is and he was flattered by his third over C&D on his penultimate outing. Mark keeps falling but not one to trust even off this lowly mark.
Just the one hurdles win to his name from 42 starts probably sums him up and various changes of headgear haven't sparked him into life. Finished well held in his last start at Hexham and can only be watched here.
Well beaten in novice/selling hurdles he did appear to make a little progress when third on his handicap debut at here over 2m1f. Form was only modest though and upped in trip (2m6f) at Stratford he reverted to his previous poor form.
Had three runs for this stable since moving from David Dennis and has shown very little so far having run here twice over a shorter trip. Now goes from out the handicap again (just 2lb this time) and probably best left alone.
The surprise winner of this race in 2014 off a mark of 72 at 25/1 that remains his only win (never matched that form since) and his latest starts are hardly inspiring. Has started at 80/1+ on all his starts this year and again runs from well out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Oh So Gigolo (5/2), Pads (3/1), Saucysioux (4/1), Dotties Dilema (6/1), Theatrical Style (10/1), Ronaldinho (10/1), Loughview Laddie (12/1), Anginola (22/1), Exit To Freedom (25/1), Raifteiri (33/1)
Hardly a competitive handicap hurdle to bring the curtain down on the Cartmel season for 2017 and it won’t take much winning as there are very few solid profiles. OH SO GIGOLO may well be able to follow up his win here last time out despite the 9lb higher mark with his stable having been successful here on Saturday. He may face some competition upfront from Theatrical Style but that one has hardly been in much form of late. Pads didn’t get far on his last rune here but with his the Jardine yard fresh from winning the Ebor and a double here on Saturday he could get involved while Dotties Dilema can’t be ruled out back over hurdles. Saucysioux is the most interesting contender though hailing from a yard that have made a great start with the trip expected to suit now she has a recent run under her belt.
- Oh So Gigolo
- Saucysioux
