In good form and C&D win here in July received a boost when second Slim Pickens won next time out. Possible excuses for below par effort at Cartmel last time and will find this more to his liking. Not discounted.
Not always the most resolute at the business end, but definite chances on Perth second in April and a rare runner for the yard here. Needs it all to drop right but could surprise if it does. Can't be ruled out.
Mixes hurdles with fences and pops up occasionally, but usually seen to better advantage over further than today and yard have gone very quiet too. On the plus side, likes it here, but comes with all sorts of risks attached tonight.
Winning run came to an end at Southwell last time and hard to find an excuse for it, finished off his race weakly and was well beaten at the finish. New higher mark has kicked in now too, so needs improvement from somewhere.
Likes this C&D, already twice a winner over it this summer and did little wrong last time when fourth to Doubly Clever. Chance of reversing that form at the weights, and this game and genuine sort ought to be on the premises again.
Not seen out since October 2015 when second to Towering in a good class handicap at Cheltenham. Handicapper has given him a chance if fit for reappearance and market may be the best guide as to his chance. Not ruled out.
Last three wins have all come at Market Rasen, and he does tend to reserve his best efforts for there these days. Not disgraced when fourth in a Listed race last time but this trip asks a new question, and others preferred on that score.
Ability is there but he rarely shows it, and again disappointed when made favourite to win over fences here earlier in the month. On a very good mark but simply too many risks to take on board.
Not seen out since falling at Ludlow in May, and although no great record fresh, is still not fully exposed and yard going fine. Trip and likely ground both fine, so if ready to go after a break, can't be discounted in a tricky event to solve.
Forecasts
Mr Mcguiness (4/1), Star Foot (5/1), Beau Du Brizais (6/1), Cottersrock (13/2), Doubly Clever (7/1), Western Miller (7/1), Mr Shantu (11/1), Sky Khan (12/1), Mile House (16/1)
Western Miller is likely to have it all to himself up front, but he was easily brushed aside last time and that's a concern again here. With doubts about so many of these, the reliable MR MCGUINESS gets the vote as he's once again got his conditions and simply doesn;t know how to run a poor one. Doubly Clever found soft ground and the extended trip against him last time but this is more up his street and he can prove the danger. Sky Khan would have these for breakfast on the best of his form and any money for him should be noted.
- Mr Mcguiness
- Doubly Clever
- Sky Khan
