Lightly-raced sort with not a lot of positives in five runs, pulled up on chase bow at Chepstow in April (2m7f, good) and been off since. Gets 4lb relief from handicapper.
Solid effort at Stratford this month when chasing home easy winner over 2m6½f (good, good to firm) and runs off the same mark in this.
Five-time winner over fences but now a 10yo and was disappointing at Worcester when switching from hurdles latest. This is less demanding on paper but work do be done.
Wears a tongue tie on first start for new yard, scored at Sedgefield in February (2m5f, heavy) and on a fair mark for this but not the most consistent performer. Market check required.
Now a 10yo, gained breakthrough success last month at Uttoxeter (3m, good) on debut for this yard sporting new headgear (retained here). Fair claims of following up with extra 4lb on board.
Irish maiden, has shown precious little in two chase starts, being pulled up at Tipperary in May (2m7f, good) when last out. First start for new yard and worth a precursory check in the betting.
Four-time winner over fences last year, including over this sort of trip, has completely lost his way this year but tumbled 21lb below previous winning mark in doing so. Hood back on.
Beaten 9L in fourth of 13 at Worcester last month on third chase start. Upped slightly in trip now and given a chance if building on that effort.
Yet to win in 17 attempts over these obstacles, showed some promise at Towcester in May (3m, soft) but hasn't built on it. First start for new trainer now and might perk up for change of scenery.
Pulled up or fell in four starts last season, and cut little ice on his debut for this yard when well backed at Hexham, before beaten 90L last time at Worcester over 2m7f in June. Case not helped by being 5lb wrong now.
Forecasts
Kapricorne (5/4), Classic Jewel (4/1), Brave Helios (7/1), Culm Counsellor (8/1), High Aspirations (8/1), No Through Road (14/1), Buffalo Sabre (25/1), King Of The Dark (40/1), Away Down West (66/1), Golander (66/1)
Classic Jewel showed renewed enthusiasm when opening his account at Uttoxeter last time out and must be given due respect in the follow up, whilst Kapricorne is worth noting on debut for new connections despite a lacklustre record. No Through Road is on now a very lowly mark if able to produce anything like his best but BRAVE HELIOS produced a decent effort last time at Stratford and, running off the same mark, might be up to going one better today.
- Brave Helios
- Classic Jewel
- Kapricorne
