Winning start in 5f Beverley maiden last month, beating a subsequent winner, and looking like he had plenty more to offer if called for. One to take seriously despite the penalty.
Keen to get on with at Carlisle over 5f in May on second start but ran of gas, since been gelded and up in trip but best watched for the moment.
Shamardal colt is a half-brother to three winners and plenty going for him on paper, holds a Group 1 entry in the Dewhurst and trainer has his string in terrific order. Lots to like.
Dandy Man colt changed hands for €30,000 as a 2yo, typically speed profile in breeding for this yard and could be capable of a good show on debut.
Cost 60,000 as a yearling and he's a half-brother to a juvenile winner over 5f in Monte Cinq, but no show on debut at Haydock (6f, good to soft) and others make clearer appeal now.
Went off at 200/1 on debut over 5f here last month and finished tenth of 11, beaten over 10L. No improvement over this trip at Pontefract since and cannot be recommended.
Zoffany colt, cost €130,000 as a foal and resold for €70,000 as a yearling, pleasing debut in Class 2 Ascot maiden when second of seven late last month, will be in the mix if building on that.
Havana Gold colt who cost €77,000 as a foal, showed some promise on debut at Haydock and can be expected to improve for a stable doing well with its juveniles.
Kendargent colt is a half-brother to useful 1m-1m4f winner Burcan, yard are flying with recent 24% strike rate and adept at readying one so bears a market check.
Raven's Pass colt bought for 5,000 gns as a yearling, resold for €85,000 as a 2yo, nicely related and commands attention in the betting to gauge expectations levels on this racecourse debut.
Bated Breath filly has been well held on both C&D starts so far and looks one to wait for handicaps now.
Champs Elysees colt was never a significant fact over 6f at Ripon on debut last week having gone off a 50/1 poke. Has plenty on to get competitive in this field.
An inexpensive Swiss Spirit filly, she's related to some useful winners but the suggestion is she'll be seen to best effect over further than this in time.
Forecasts
Al Mustashar (10/11), No I'm Easy (15/8), That's A Surprise (7/1), Saisons D'Or (16/1), Soldier's Minute (20/1), Eeh Bah Gum (20/1), Harrogate (28/1), Sentimental Gent (33/1), Albarino (80/1), Champarisi (100/1), Chef United (100/1), Marconi (150/1), Aliento (200/1)
Holding a Dewhurst entry, the Godolphin debutant Al Mustashar commands and plenty respect on debut, with his trainer enjoying a fine spell, any money behind him ought to prove noteworthy. Another debutant, Sentimental Gent, is also to be paid attention in the market along with Eeh Bah Gum, while No I'm Easy made a pleasing start at Ascot last month and should go close again here. THAT'S A SURPRISE won his Beverley maiden while seeming to hold a bit in reserve and with the runner-up having scored since, he's not to be underestimated in this despite the penalty he carries. He should improve and has the potential to thwart his rivals.
- That's A Surprise
- Al Mustashar
- No I'm Easy
