Has looked in good form since winning here in June off a 7lb lower mark displaying some consistent form without winning again. Game front runner and may well be suited by a return to a shorter distance over a course that he's run well before.

Not won for nearly two years now and has fallen way below his last winning mark of 118. Last two runs back from a break have been very moderate (failed to complete last time) and best watched here.

Toledo Goldt46

28/1
Game front-runner who hasn't been in much form of late and often makes mistakes which tend to hold him back. Faces competition for the lead here and that limits his chance.

Miss Conway43
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Jamie Hamilton(3)| T: M Walford| OR:  96| CD
11/4
A three-time C&D winner she runs well here and goes very well for this rider with her last three wins coming under him. Showed more improvement last time when taking a better class handicap but does have to cope with a 7lb rise here slightly eased in grade.

Poor handicap chaser whose overall record reads 1-28 in this sphere and hasn't shown anything of late even with first-time cheekpieces on last time. Not one since November 2013 and holds only an outside chance here.

Failed to take to chasing the last time she was tried in this sphere looking none too keen and left with plenty to prove. Certainly needed the run when returning over hurdles after a break last time (faded quickly) and may be best watched here.

Has twice flattered to deceive over fences since moving to his current stable. Weakened dramatically last time after travelling well throughout the race. He's clearly a well-handicapped horse, but given his demeanour he remains one to be wary of.

Miss Mackie30
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-10| J: Dale Irving(3)| T: R M Smith| OR:  80

Opened her chasing account last time at the second attempt although she did so in a very weak handicap and looked a little flattered by the result. Only went up 3lb as a result of that win but may well be one to oppose here on quicker ground.

Just poor in handicaps over fences these days and although his mark continues to fall and he's way below his last winning mark (105) he shows very little sign of taking advantage. Can't really be recommended on his latest form and best watched.

His chasing form so far has really failed to inspire and he returns now to the larger obstacles with plenty to prove after a try over hurdles last time. His form hardly sets the pulse racing even in this lowly affair.

Rhythm Of Soundb130

An unreliable maiden over fences he has run a couple of decent races of late before reverting to type last time at Cartmel (behind Miss Mackie and Dica). Has worn a visor in his last three starts but now tried in blinkers in a bid to provide some much needed spark.

Morning Timep,t36
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-4| J: D R Fox| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  74| CD
16/1
Certainly knows his way around here having won here five times (only once over fences) and broke a long losing run over hurdles here in June off today's mark. Unable to follow-up that run and now back over fences for the first time since April when he ran poorly.

Forecasts

Agentleman (5/2), Miss Conway (11/4), Dica (9/1), Miss Mackie (9/1), My Idea (12/1), Rhythm Of Sound (12/1), Mr Witmore (16/1), Morning Time (16/1), Gleann Na Ndochais (20/1), Shine Away (25/1), Toledo Gold (28/1), The Shepherd King (33/1)

Verdict

There’s no doubt that Agentleman in a new headgear combination and with a very promising conditional taking the ride has the ability to win a low-grade contest like this but his response to pressure the last twice has been very disappointing. Miss Mackie managed to defeat a couple of these last time out at Cartmel with Dica the principal victim but that one may be able to turn around that form over shorter. In a race full of questionable types it may be best to rely on the consistency of course specialist MISS CONWAY who should be able to cope with a 7lb rise in the weights having fewer doubts about her than most.
  1. Miss Conway
  2. Agentleman
  3. Dica
