Formerly with Nicky Henderson (very capable hurdler) and has made a good start to his chase career with this yard winning on his debut in this sphere. Beaten since but in far better company last time and should appreciate this drop in grade.

He's done well over fences since joining this yard winning in impressive style in a slightly lower grade at Uttoxeter over 3m in June off a an 11lb lower mark. Did take a step forward despite being defeated last time over shorter and remains of interest.

Showed early promise over fences when winning at Kelso on his second start in this sphere and progressed after that despite not winning (has been beaten by Lovely Job). Ran poorly last time out though (jumping was sloppy) and needs to bounce back.

Rather an enigmatic hurdler who often flattered to deceive in that sphere and that shows in his record. Failed to progress on the promise he showed on his chasing debut although he will probably appreciate a greater stamina test.

Looked to have gradually got his act together with his former yard over fences albeit in a lower grade. His two runs over fences for this yard have been very disappointing though and he faces a stiff task here.

Forecasts

Lovely Job (4/6), Brian Boranha (10/3), Cup Final (13/2), Charlie Wingnut (9/1), Clondaw Banker (33/1)

Verdict

Fergal O’Brien doesn’t run many here but does have a 2-6 record over the past five years and LOVELY JOB despite his defeat last time has shown some steadily progressive form and could well resume the winning thread here. Cup Final will appreciate this drop in grade and looks the main danger while Charlie Wingnut needs to bounce back from his poor run last time out and that may allow Brian Boranha to take the minor placing.
  1. Lovely Job
  2. Cup Final
  3. Brian Boranha
