C&D winner on good-to-firm ground on his penultimate outing and a fair effort when 5L third on soft here subsequently. Return to better ground forecast today should suit and an interesting runner in this.

Victorious first time out at Salisbury (6f, good-to-firm) and a couple of decent placed efforts since. Well held twice last month however but interesting as the sole speed angle in this contest.

Ran well when beaten 2L by Mr Orange at Carlisle (good-to-soft) on his penultimate outing. Visor worn on that occasion replaced with blinkers (retained) when well held fourth at Catterick (7f, soft) subsequently.

Winning for the fourth time when victorious over 6f at Catterick (soft) on his penultimate outing but disappointing fifth subsequently and would appreciate any overnight rain.

Forecasts

Mr Orange (7/4), Penny Pot Lane (4/1), Short Work (5/1), Lexington Sky (6/1), Mishaal (7/1), Market Choice (8/1), Swanton Blue (9/1), Be Bold (10/1), Equiano Springs (12/1)

Verdict

SWANTON BLUE can make all the running to take this concluding 6f handicap. The selection made all when winning at Salisbury in May and can put a disappointing effort last time out when unable to lead behind him by registering his third career victory today. Top weight Mr Orange has been running well in the main this season and can follow up his third here last time out by claiming second today while Short Work can claim third on just his second start over this trip in 2017.
  1. Swanton Blue
  2. Mr Orange
  3. Short Work
