Took her a while to get off the mark over fences but when she did the win came in good style over C&D having jumped well and tanked along through the race. Despite being beaten showed further progress last time out and won't be far away here.

Has now slipped back to the mark (116) that he was successful off at Ludlow in January over 3m. Has run some below-par races off higher marks since then and often looks as though attitude could be a problem and best watched.

Could not be on a more attractive mark given his past form but failed to take advantage of that fact last time out when well backed at Cartmel. It may be that this longer trip will see a renaissance although he may well be better with some headgear on.

On the basis of his chasing runs it's not conclusive that he needs this extra trip having had a much reduced mark to thank for his one chase win. Can throw in the odd poor run but ran well enough last time although this looks just a bit tougher.

Went through a spell where he looked a reformed character but appears to have reverted to type of late. Generally looks a hard ride and ran poorly over hurdles on his last start and best left alone here.

Produced a career best over hurdles here last time out (generally runs well here) and now resumes his chasing career. Only tried over fences three times with varying degrees of success and has to totally convince over the larger obstacles as yet.

Forecasts

Apache Jack (2/1), Johnny Go (3/1), Urtheoneiwant (3/1), Valleyofmilan (9/1), Presented (9/1), Quick Brew (10/1)

Verdict

Two or three of these have questions to answer over fences and it may well be left to URTHEONEIWANT to continue on what appears to be an upward curve for her. Apache Jack should be able to win off this mark but didn’t really convince over fences last time out while Quick Brew and Johnny Go both have profiles which are show that they are yet to be totally trusted over the larger obstacles.
  1. Urtheoneiwant
  2. Johnny Go
  3. Apache Jack
