It took a career-low mark to end a long losing run at Leicester back in May over 5f but this course winner has really struggled in follow up that run and still remains above that mark of 70 that he won off.
Strange to see him back at this 6f trip (all wins over further) and although he looks in decent form this may prove a bit short for him. He's often slow away and that could put him on the back foot her in the early stages and others are preferred over this sprint trip.
Looked to have turned over a new leaf when winning two low-grade handicaps on the AW at Wolverhampton earlier in the year on his early runs for this stable. Has been consistent since (without winning) although he's often promised more than he has delivered but may take a hand here with a good claimer booked back on turf.
Without a win for a while now and tends to hamper her chance with a slow start and will need them to go a good gallop and the pace to collapse to go close here. Should be capable of winning off a mark such as this and not totally written off.
Had slipped back below her last racing mark on her penultimate outing at Ayr and built on that run off a mark of 65 at Thirsk last time out under a very promising apprentice. Gets no penalty for that race and runs again off the same mark here and if in the same form will be hard to beat for a yard that continue in good form.
Managed to end a long losing run at Chepstow in a slightly lesser grade in July (apprentice ridden) and followed that up with another win in an apprentice race at Newbury in the same month. Failed to complete the hat-trick in a better race when unpenalised at Nottingham (may have found the race coming too soon) and should be competitive off a 4lb higher mark here after a break.
plummeted in the weights since his Hamilton win last May but is 0/20 since then so it's easy to see why he has dropped so far in the weights. Most of his form for this yard looks very poor and the ground presents him with another problem with all his best form coming on faster.
His one win a maiden on soft ground at Hamilton over 6f in 2015b seems a long time ago now and with his two runs this year having been poor it's not hard to look past him here.
His only win remains in a 0-55 classified stakes on the AW and with his form this year being modest at best he's passed over here.
Forecasts
Danish Duke (11/4), Amood (4/1), Specialv (9/2), Champagne Bob (5/1), Casterbridge (17/2), Pushkin Museum (10/1), Niqnaaqpaadiwaaq (10/1), Dodgy Bob (20/1), Mr Conundrum (66/1)
Not too many in this are in good form and with DANISH DUKE not having to shoulder a penalty for his Thirsk win he looks well treated at the weights here with his stable continuing to produce winners. Pushkin Museum is consistent although his attitude in a finish is questionable and it may be that Specialv if she gets away on terms and Champagne Bob are the duo to present the biggest challenge to the likely short-priced favourite.
- Danish Duke
- Specialv
- Champagne Bob
