Sole success over over 5f (good to firm) in maiden company at Thirsk in the spring and she went on to run well enough over that trip on soft ground at York next time. Below par on her last two starts but a 4lb drop here has prompted a drop in grade and coupled with headgear we may well see a more lively effort.
Won a Redcar maiden (6f, good to firm) last year and made the frame from today's mark on handicap debut next time. Put up a below par effort at Doncaster when last on his return in April and has been given time since then. Should be capable of better this time.
Has already seen plenty of racecourse action and won two of his 17 starts, both at Pontefract over 5f. The lastest of those was with some cut in the ground, so the forecast conditions won't be a problem, but he was beaten 5L from just 1lb higher than today last time and needs improvement.
Sole success was in a Lingfield maiden (6f, AW) last year when with Richard Hannon and has not produced anything else like that in eight subsequent starts. Beaten 16½L from this mark at Doncaster last time and not easy to fancy.
Reasonably consistent performer who came good at Wolverhampton in claiming company last time (6f, AW). That was probably as good as he has produced and he has already run well in defeat from this mark in a Thirsk handicap this season. With that success on the board he can again give a good account.
On a losing run of 14 since securing a Kempton maiden last year. Went close here over 5f (good to firm) in April from 6lb higher and handles good to soft well enough (was a 4½L third on it over C&D last month). Not easy to rule out, but percentage call is to take him on.
Forecasts
Sheepscar Lad (5/2), Lanjano (5/2), Stringybark Creek (9/2), Alfonso Manana (6/1), Savannah's Dream (7/1), Lexington Sky (8/1)
SAVANNAH'S DREAM has been a bit out of sorts just lately, but with a 4lb drop and the step down to this level, plus the application of cheekpieces, she is taken to return to winning ways. Lanjano is probably better than he was able to show when his stable was under a cloud in April and could do much better, while Alfonso Manana and Stringybark Creek are others with claims, though they will need a little more last time.
- Savannah's Dream
- Lanjano
- Alfonso Manana
