Ran okay at a big price in the Super Sprint at Newbury last time, having showed talent in conditions races prior to that. More needed here but interesting to see how he fares in an easier race.

Only narrowly beaten at Chepstow last time, having run to a similar level on each of his three starts so far. Needs to prove himself on this type of track.

Demons Rock17
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-6| J: R Kingscote| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  77| D

Career best to win at Chepstow last time (6f, good). Makes his nursery debut here and looks on a fair mark, with further improvement a distinct possibility from a helpful draw.

Angel Islington25
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-5| J: Oisin Murphy| T: A M Balding| OR:  76

Has steadily improved with each run so far; probably still a little way below the required standard for this nursery debut but has the potential to progress further and shouldn't have an issue with the ground.

Magnus17
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-3| J: B A Curtis| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  74| D
13/2
Outclassed in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and has run much more effectively since being dropped in class since. Looks on a fair weight and unlike most of these has already proven he can go close in competitive handicaps.

Our Man In Havana16
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-3| J: M Harley| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  74| BF| D

Much better efforts on his last three starts, mark should be fine despite a 10L defeat into second last time, the question mark would surround his ability to handle any cut in the ground.

Not disgraced on some of her performances to date but plenty to find with the best of these and isn't drawn to go close here.

Mabo9
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-10| J: Sammy Jo Bell(3)| T: R A Fahey| OR:  67
20/1
Plenty to find based on what he's achieved so far, but is on a suitably low handicap rating and his first run in particular provided a source of mild enthusiasm for his potential.

Admiral Spice31
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-7| J: J Fanning| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  64

On a low opening mark having run three fair races in maiden and novice events so far, more needed now but is weighted to run well and has hinted at ability.

Forecasts

Demons Rock (15/8), Angel Islington (4/1), Magnus (13/2), Our Man In Havana (15/2), Kimifive (8/1), Porchy Party (8/1), Admiral Spice (10/1), Royal Liberty (10/1), Inviolable Spirit (14/1), Mabo (20/1), Auntie Pam (33/1)

Verdict

A few of these have been running well with the potential for further improvement, but given the importance of the draw at this track it is impossible to ignore the claims of DEMONS ROCK. Tom Dascombe's runner ran a career best at Chepstow last time and seems to be on a fair mark for this first attempt in nursery company, with stall two likely to be a big help to him. Magnus has been better since being dropped in class from Listed level to handicaps, while Porchy Party was much better at Wolverhampton last time and could go close if as effective in these conditions.

  3. Porchy Party
