The mark is plummeting but there remains a question mark as to whether he still has the ability within him to take advantage. His recent run at Redcar didn't scream that he was a winner waiting to happen though and even in this lowly grade he's passed over.
Has looked capable of winning and probably shaped a bit better than the distance he was beaten last time out when he went off too hard in first-time blinkers. Visor on now for the first time and if he settles better in the change of headgear he would have a chance here.
Been in good form of late and ran well with cheekpieces on for the first time last time out (left off today). His finishing effort showed why he remains a maiden though being very questionable in its tenacity and he could be booked for another place here.
Took a step back in the right direction when third here on his penultimate start over a slightly shorter trip but failed to back that up last time out in first-time cheekpieces.
Usually a front-runner he's been here a few times now and has won here over shorter trips. Wasn't suited by a longer distance last time and on current form rather hard to recommend.
Her overall record of 1/36 hardly screams that she is one that you want to be siding with although she did run respectably last time out others make more appeal.
Still yet to win a race and the hood is retained after she ran with credit last time out at Beverley. Still has work to do from this work of mark though and will need to some help from the handicapper if she's to break her maiden.
Her best "recent" run came here but that was last year and she's run poorly since and on both starts this season and hard to see her taking a hand here based on that form.
Still a maiden although he did shape a little better than his final position suggests here last time out over a shorter trip (met trouble twice). Out of the handicap here however and overall record leaves some doubts in the mind.
Looks to be a steady improver and did well to finish second last time after he raced too close to an overly strong pace. The form of that race has worked out well with the winner and fourth winning next time out and must have a leading chance here.
Blinkered for the first-time and still a maiden albeit a lightly-raced one but still faces a tough task here to bounce back from a poor run last time out.
Forecasts
Devil's Guard (11/4), Green Howard (9/2), Catastrophe (5/1), Colour Contrast (11/2), Hellavashock (11/1), Palindrome (12/1), Little Pippin (14/1), Les Pecheurs (14/1), Born On The Clyde (25/1), Riponian (28/1), Swiss Lait (33/1)
Not too much quality in this low-grade handicap with DEVIL’S GUARD showing the best recent form on offer here with the form of his second last time working out well. Green Howard keeps being given a chance by the handicapper but does he still have the ability and Colour Contrast is preferred if he settles better. Catastrophe often travels well but fails to deliver in the finish and a place may be the best he can manage again.
- Devil's Guard
- Colour Contrast
- Catastrophe
