Shaping up into a decent performer, particularly on good or softer ground and ran his best race yet despite defeat over 6f at York last month, on his nursery debut. The class act in the field here and a repeat or better than his last run will make him very tough to beat.

Won a novices' auction (5f, good) at odds-on in June and handled cut when only just touched off next time. Not as good since then and now turns to nurseries from a mark of 75, suggesting that she will need to improve a few pounds to be winning again.

Proving to be a consistent performer, but at the same time, expensive to follow, having been towards or at the head of the market in four of his five starts but not yet winning. Trip and ground no problem, but gives the impression that a 1lb drop may not be sufficient to see him break his duck on this nursery debut.

Took a while to come to hand but has been improving lately and recorded her first win at York (5f, good to soft) last time. Carries a penalty for that win from several better-fancied opponents and with similar conditions forecast she could again go very close.

Forecasts

John Kirkup (5/4), Angel Force (2/1), Palmer (7/2), Big Time Maybe (6/1), Villa Tora (14/1)

Verdict

Angel Force came good last time and with conditions likely to suit again, she should go very well under a penalty. However, JOHN KIRKUP has produced a significantly higher level of performance and, although he has to concede plenty of weight to David Griffiths' filly, he is taken to do so, with the going also to his liking. Palmer can prove to be next best on the day.
  1. John Kirkup
  2. Angel Force
  3. Palmer
