Won a Kempton maiden (1m, AW) in October though comfortably held in two subsequent handicaps this spring and has since been gelded. May be able to show some improvement for that this time and for a 1lb drop, so a market check is suggested.
It's almost a year since he broke his duck at Salisbury (7f, good to firm) and he has gone very close on both starts this term/since being gelded and stepped up to this trip. Beat one of Sir Michael Stoute's home at Sandown last time in his best effort yet so will need more improvement to defy a 5lb rise.
Another who came good on his second start last year in a Beverley maiden (7½f, good to firm), though he has been in-and-out this season. A reproduction of either his Chester run two starts ago or his Doncaster effort four starts ago would ensure he is very competitive, but comes here with a bit to prove after last time.
Shaping up as though he ideally wants fast ground, but ran well enough on good at Leicester last time (1m2f) on his first start for this trainer. This looks a tough enough mark from which to begin handicapping, but can't rule him out and a market check is advised.
Yet to add to her 7f Chelmsford win from November in four starts this year, though shaped better when tried over this trip at Leicester (good to firm) last time. On the same mark today and with the use of a 5lb claimer, she looks to have claims.
Had been improving until his latest effort at Yarmouth (1m, good) last time, when his form plateaued. Now steps up in trip and there is hope in his pedigree that that would help him take another stride forward, so from what looks a fair mark for his handicap debut he can make an impact.

Pivoine is one to check on in the market given his connections and the fact that he comes back after being gelded. His trainer Sir Michael Stoute will also have a line on Seafarer, who finished ahead of one of his string at Sandown last time and Marcus Tregoning's gelding looks to be back on an upward curve and could go well. Annie Fior is another who can go well under her claimer, while UNIT OF ASSESSMENT has further potential for improvement now stepped up to this trip and is given the vote.
