€10,000 yearling and changed hands for €12,000 as a three-year-old. Half-brother to 1m2f winner, out of a 7f 2yo AW seller winning half-sister to 6f Group Two winner Pivotal Point. Not much in the way of jumping genes, but trainer does well (28% over the past five seasons) in this sphere, so market check advised.
50-1 and performed as such when a 22L sixth of nine on debut here way back in 2015. Not seen since, so very much one to watch after his lengthy break going into this second start.

Pulled up on his point-to-point debut (3m, soft/heavy) in Ireland in March and much more of a sprint pedigree than laden with stamina. Tongue strap added for this rules debut and a precautionary market check is suggested.

€15,000 yearling, who dropped to £1,800 when revisiting the sales last year. Middle distance Flat pedigree and should have the stamina for this game if he can handling the jumping side of things. However, yard not known for debut bumper winners and he looks best watched today.
Outperformed his 12-1 SP on debut when runner-up in a similar contest at Stratford, beaten just 1L on good ground. Gets those conditions again, looks open to progress and a leading player today.

Yet to get competitive in point-to-points and although he has a nice enough jumps pedigree, a watching brief is advised on his rules debut today.

Horse silk
5/4
Stepped up on a reasonable debut when following home a previous winner here last time out. Should be able to continue that upward trajectory this time and looks likely to be a leading contender.
9
Horse silk
33/1
Improved for her debut, though was still beaten 32L over C&D last time. Hard to see her making sufficient improvement to get competitive today, but no reason why she can't continue to build.

Forecasts

Rubbing Shoulders (5/4), Handy Hollow (3/1), Lafterlands (9/2), Vino's Choice (6/1), Strong Team (8/1), Solway Lark (16/1), Farocco (20/1), Shesthebusiness (33/1), Kennedys Field (66/1)

Verdict

Best to concentrate on the usual yards who have a record of success in this sphere and with the champion on board, RUBBING SHOULDERS gets the vote. Gordon Elliott's mare is open to further improvement and an hopefully find enough to see off Handy Hollow, who looks her chief rival. Nicky Richards has an enviable record in bumpers, so despite his pedigree Lafterlands should be checked out in the market and Strong Team could also be in the shake-up for some prize money.

  3. Lafterlands
