Successful chaser who has reverted well to hurdles, winning one of these over 2m6f at Cartmel last time (soft). Acts on any ground and you couldn't rule him out successfully carrying a penalty here.
Multiple winner over staying trips on the Flat for Ralph Beckett and has run with credit in making the frame in all three hurdles since joining this yard. Step up to this trip should suit and in receipt of weight he should go close.
Sole success was in a novices' chase for Gary Moore on heavy ground, but lost form for that stable and now has his first try for this one. Bred to stay, but comes here with a fair bit to prove for the moment.
50-1 and not devoid of encouragement on his debut here (2m4f, good) last month. Third that day, and well beaten by the front two, but it was at least something to build on here.
Won a point to point in May (2m4f, good), but given that he was clearly race fit, he put up a disappointing effort when beaten 57L on his rules debut at Cartmel (2m6f, good to soft) later that month. Gets weight from the others here but plenty to prove, not least stamina.
Forecasts
What Happens Now (1/1), Air Squadron (5/4), Instingtive (12/1), Solway Palm (33/1), Gretta Rose (33/1)
This looks to be a match on paper between What Happens Now and AIR SQUADRON and the latter gets the vote now stepped up to this trip and in receipt of weight from his main rival. Donald McCain's topweight is not dismissed lightly and should make a good race of it, while Solway Palm might prove next best on the day.
