Triple Group Two scorer who also won this race in 2014 and has won at Group Three level already this season. Goes on any ground and if he could run to the level of form he did at Leopardstown in May then, although he is not as good as he was, he would still have a big say here.

Comfortably held in the Listed Hambleton Handicap at York in May, his only previous try at this level. Is very competent in handicaps at around this trip, but does need to improve a bit to be among the prizes in this field.

Won a Leopardstown maiden way back on 2014 when with Aidan O'Brien. Has not added to that, but went close in Listed company at Ascot last year. Last of 22 runners in the Lincoln, his only start in 2017 and much more needed to trouble this lot.

Dual Listed winner who goes on any ground and went close in an Epsom Group Three (1m½f, good) last month. Not quite as good in the Group Two Summer Mile last time, but a return to that Epsom form would give him strong claims today.

Had looked potentially very smart in 2015 when winning two of his three (inc. Listed) starts over 7f, on good or softer ground. Was off the track from November 2015 until April this year and after a pipe-opener he ran a fine race to make the frame in the Royal Hunt Cup last month. Below par last time, but has claims if repeating his Royal Ascot effort.

Forecasts

Tashweeq (2/1), Gabrial (11/4), Another Touch (7/2), Custom Cut (7/2), Home Cummins (12/1), Battle Of Marathon (18/1)

Verdict

Tashweeq is perhaps the most interesting runner here and perhaps the drop to 7f was not to his liking last time, as he had run really well in the Royal Hunt Cup prior to that. If he could conjur up another similar effort to that then he would have a major chance, but he clearly carries risks. Therefore, GABRIAL looks to be the percentage call. Already a dual winner at this level, he is running to a very good level of form this term and maintaining that may prove good enough. Custom Cut looks next best.
