All four wins have been with cut in the ground, so forecast conditions ought to suit. Hasn't won for two seasons and is now 10lb lower than his most recent success. Slight drop in class for him here, but hard to fancy on what he has been showing of late, especially given that he has had his preferred ground for some of them.

Yet to win a handicap and was just a shade disappointing at Hamilton last time (1m3f) when raised 3lb to this mark. Others make more appeal.

Scored on his first starts for 10 months in a maiden at Newcastle (1m2f, AW) in March, but has been in the grip of the handicapper since then. Capable of being competitive from this sort of mark and has each-way claims.

Completed a hat-trick over this trip and good/good to soft/soft ground earlier in the season and was not far away from completing a four-timer at Haydock on faster ground last time. Up 3lb for that but gets on well with this pilot and he may not be done winning just yet.

Has won at least once in each of the last five seasons, though he has not yet shaped as if he is going to maintain that sequence so far this term. Record at this track not great either, but he is well handicapped here if he can get back to something like his best. Goes on any ground. Market check might be prudent.

Broke his duck at the second attempt at Redcar (1m2f, good) in May, but was well held from a mark of 80 on his handicap debut last time. Dropped 1lb going into this and improvement not ruled out, but will need some of that and also to prove that he can handle some cut.

1-20 so far, having scored on soft ground at Carlisle (1m1f) in June. Has run three good races at round 1m since then and is not 6lb higher than his win. Will need a bit more improvement, but this extra furlong may help and he is not ruled out.

Loves this track, having recorded three of his four career wins at it (two over C&D). Acts on any ground with good in the description and after a slide in the handicap he ran his best race for some time at Thirsk (1m4f, good to firm) last week, prompting a nudge back up of 2lb. Could go very well now back here.

Won a handicap over this trip at Beverley (good) in May, but the handicapper has had his measure since then. Remains 2lb higher than that sole success and is hard to fancy on the evidence of what we have seen since.

Forecasts

Near Kettering (10/3), Beverley Bullet (4/1), Dark Intention (5/1), Miningrocks (7/1), Lucy's Law (8/1), Lopes Dancer (17/2), Maraakib (9/1), Correggio (10/1), Lord Franklin (12/1), Reinstorm (20/1), Street Poet (25/1)

Verdict

Corregio loves it here and along with Lopes Dancer he has each-way claims, but others are preferred when considering the potential winner. Near Kettering comes into consideration, though he has it to prove on this ground, while Beverley Bullet is another in with a shout, but MININGROCKS will relish the forecast conditions and ran well against despite his winning run coming to an end at Haydock last time. He may still have another win in him.
  1. Miningrocks
  2. Beverley Bullet
  3. Near Kettering
