Improved on a promising Ripon debut when scoring at Hamilton last time (5f, good). Had over 2L to spare there and should be capable of further improvement, so despite giving weight away now, she looks capable of going very close to a follow-up success.

Improved nicely for his Hamilton debut (6f, soft) outing when runner-up at Beverley (5f, good to firm) earlier in the month. WIll need to take a similar step up to be in with a chance of winning this, but that is not ruled out.

Has looked very moderate in three starts to date in similar contests, with the handicapper rating him just 35 for that. WIll be very hard to win races with unless he can begin to show some improvement.

Half-sister to 2yo 6f winner As A Dream, out of a 1m (inc at two) to 1m1f winning half-sister to 1m-1m4f winner Red Runaway, out of 1m1½f winning half-sister to Irish St Leger winner Sans Frontieries. Stable's turf juveniles below par (0-23) this season, so she looks best watched first time out.

Has made minor improvement over her five starts, winning a Beverley claimer (5f, good to firm) in May and being placed in all the other four. Yet to race on anything but good to firm ground and is likely to need to find a few pounds more improvement if she is to win this. Each-way claims.

€58,000 yearling. Half-sister to four winners from 6f-1m2f, including two juveniles winners over 6f/7f. Promising pedigree and from a top yard whose turf juveniles are at their usual 15% strike rate this term. Likely to be able to give a good account.

Improved for her Newcastle debut (5f, AW) when she was held by just a short-head at York (5f, good to firm) last time. Looks to be the yard's first string on jockey bookings and a repeat or better than her latest run would give her a very good chance at these weights.

Forecasts

Sosian (11/10), Kalagia (5/2), Wensley (4/1), Big Les (4/1), Sabellum (8/1), Our Little Pony (9/1), Leanda J (33/1), Westfield Wonder (100/1)

Verdict

Kalagia should again be a leading player here, but she has to give 6lb to SOSIAN, which might prove beyond her. Richard Fahey's filly looks capable of improving again and if she does then at these weights she will be tough to beat. Stablemate Sabellum is the most interesting of the two newcomers, while Wensley, Big Les and Our Little Pony can join battle for some of the minor prizes.
  1. Sosian
