Won his maiden well at Lingfield and bounced back from a disappointing run when favourite at Haydock with respectable effort at Royal Ascot, finishing 6L behind fellow Godolphin inmate Atty Persse. Probably not much scope from this handicap mark but possible the step up in trip could see him improve.

Showed ability when placed in a maiden at Haydock over shorter and built on that run when switching to handicaps with the blinkers on first time, stepped up to 1m5f. By Nathaniel who is starting to look a sire of note in staying races and this colt forged clear to win at Newmarket last time out; despite an 8lb higher mark here looks to have more improvement in him.

Shock 100/1 maiden winner at Newbury earlier in the season and got back on track with a win at that course again last time out earlier in the month. 3lb rise not at all excessive but chance he could struggle with the slower ground here.

Handled softer ground well last time at Carlisle, justifying favouritism to land a maiden having shown promise on both his previous starts. Likely to relish this step up in trip and opening handicap mark looks fair; interesting runner.

Looked capable in maidens but struggling on handicap debut last time and looks up against in what looks an above average contest for the grade.

Forecasts

Joshua Reynolds (15/8), Nadaitak (7/2), Duke Of Bronte (7/2), Janszoon (7/2), Great Sound (9/2), Orsino (14/1)

Verdict

GREAT SOUND has been slowly away on both starts to date but there's a good chance he will take another step forward here, and if he can break on terms, he could be hard to beat. It will be interesting to see how stablemate Joshua Reynolds fares in the market after a dominant win at Newmarket last time while Nadaltak landed a maiden on his third start and his opening mark looks fair.
  1. Great Sound
  2. Joshua Reynolds
  3. Nadaitak
