Formerly with Gordon Elliott in Ireland he's been running over hurdles for that yard and showed little on his last start for the same yard on the Flat in the Irish Cesarewitch. Now back from a break for a new yard he might be best watched here although he should be able to cope with this mark if fit.

Bounced back to form this year with a couple of placed efforts at Pontefract and York over shorter trips. Does blow hot and cold though and he threw in a poor run at Doncaster last timeout although he does have some form that suggests he can win off that mark.

Won back-to-back starts at Catterick and Doncaster in what has proved to be a productive season although the higher marks she now has to run off are starting to look a little prohibitive. Should be in the mix again although the elevated mark does give her a tough task.

A C&D winner he generally runs this course well and may well have been a little unlucky to not win one this year with three second places in a row before he was ridden too aggressively last time out. Cheekpieces on this time around and with a more conservative ride he could well go close here as he generally travels well.

Still a maiden after 23 Flat starts and while he ran with credit last time over further he was never really in the race. Is now back with his former trainer after a spell with John Best but the overall profile leaves him something to find.

Very much looked suited by the step up to 1m6f when winning at Redcar off a lowly mark of 46 last November. Showed even better form when second over C&D in May (went hurdling over the winter) and only beaten by one who was very well-in at the weights. Upped in trip last time out off a short break he failed as a short-priced favourite but better is expected here.

Forecasts

Braes Of Lochalsh (5/2), Monaco Rose (5/2), Buzz Boy (9/2), Bridey's Lettuce (11/2), Kashmiri Sunset (13/2), Transpennine Star (8/1), Itlaaq (12/1)

Verdict

Horses like Itlaaq and Transpennine Star are liable to pop in a good performance from out of the blue but they do have a bit to do on form with Monaco Rose and Buzz Boy who runs this course well. The latter should do better than he did last time given a decent break but BRAES OF LOCHALSH is the one to be with overall here given his good course form although he will just need to be given a slightly less aggressive ride than he was last time out to succeed.
  1. Braes Of Lochalsh
  2. Buzz Boy
  3. Monaco Rose
