Out of sorts until a run in a 6f claimer at Ripon late last month appeared to rejuvenate. Built upon that effort with a solid 2L second to Robero over C&D last week. Ground likely to be riding quicker tonight, but Avon Breeze (fourth) could enhance that form-line earlier on tonight's card.
Not won since October 2016 on soft ground at Catterick, and has lacked any signs of a return to form this campaign. On a winnable mark accordingly, but only really worth a look if excessive rain (not forecast) arrives.
Boasts some solid efforts at this track during his 70 race career and clearly well suited by the uphill finish (C&D winner from a 9lb higher mark in May 2015). A largely inconclusive profile this term, but his Ayr third to Black Isle Boy was okay and not discounted.
Was having his first start since October 2016, and making his stable debut when last of ten to Zapper Class at Nottingham (6f soft) in late June. New trainer normally turns most sprinters around, but not for today.
In excellent order and backed up a solid effort behind Round The Island over C&D last month by winning at Carlisle recently (beat Cliff by 1¼L). Up 3lb, but fully effective at this track having also taken this contest in 2016 (from an 8lb lower mark).
Lightly raced, and won a Redcar maiden in early May (7f good to firm) by 1L. Found life tougher since including in a C&D classified stakes latest and this wide draw looks a major barrier to further progress.
Narrow winner on the Tapeta at Newcastle in October (5f maiden), and very lightly raced since. Shaped okay back from an enforced break over C&D earlier this month when third of 12 to Mininggold (5f good), but needs to prove this extra furlong is manageable.
Won two of his last three starts, both coming over this trip at Leicester and Ripon. Held from a higher mark most latterly at Catterick (5/4f), but should run his race (especially if rain arrives).
Short-head winner from a 3lb lower mark on his penultimate start, beating subsequent winner Sheepscar Lad. Ground likely to be riding similar tonight and perhaps wise to give him a 'free pass' for a latest moderate effort at Carlisle when the ground was described as good to soft (also 7f).
Eight race maiden but consistent enough and was a 3L runner to Cheerfilly in a 7f Leicester maiden recently. First time cheek-pieces are required to eke out some further improvement.
Five race maiden who has largely regressed since a fair debut at Doncaster in November 2016. However, switches to handicaps for the first time wearing newly added cheek-pieces, so there is still time to turn his career around if he truly fancies it.
Likeable old stager who wins from time to time (5f and 6f) and his most recent outing was one of those occasions when scooting clear of Willsy to win by 2L over 6f at Carlisle. This is a stronger contest, and he's got the worst of the draw.

Forecasts
Nibras Again (3/1), Mishaal (7/2), Perfect Symphony (6/1), Mr Orange (7/1), Alfie's Angel (7/1), Tavener (8/1), Kody Ridge (10/1), Grinty (14/1), Royal Connoisseur (20/1), Gloriux (22/1), Ypres (25/1), Yeeoow (25/1), Kommander Kirkup (33/1)
Mr Orange loves Pontefract, and the 2016 winner of this contest has been in fine fettle lately, so comes into the race very much on the short-list despite a troubling wide draw. Taverner and YEEOOW should make this a good test, with the latter named also sporting strong Pontefract form coupled with an appealing falling mark. Of the younger horses, Kody Ridge should run his usual solid race and Perfect Symphony isn't discounted if he stays the trip in what looks a race best suited to keeping stakes to the minimum.
- Yeeoow
- Mr Orange
- Alfie's Angel
