Built on a quiet debut with a really good effort to be runner-up to a stable companion over C&D (soft) earlier in the month. The form looks very solid (the winner has since repeated the feat under a penalty) and a reproduction or better would make him tough to beat this time.

£17,000 yearling. Dam a 6f 2yo winning full-sister to 7f-1m2f winner Crafty Choice, out of 6f-7½f winning half-sister to 1m Group Two winner Hurricane Alan and dual Cesarewitch winner Aaim To Prosper. Certainly has a nice enough pedigree, though yard not had a juvenile winner for several seasons, so looks one to watch.

Outperformed his 25-1 SP on debut when doing his best work at the finish and beaten just over 1L into third at Carlisle (6f, good) last month. Likely to be able to improve for that experience and be a leading contender here.
Half-brother to moderate 5f winner Mystical King, out of a 1m-1m1f winning half-sister to Sobriety (smart at 1m2f) and 6f/8½f winner Violet. Stable not normally associated with winning juvenile debutantes and he appears best watched first time.

Made a nice enough debut when third to two better fancied opponents at Pontefract (6f, good to firm) last month. Should be able to step up on that and is unlikely to be far away again today.

Forecasts

Austin Powers (7/4), Han Solo Berger (15/8), Clubbable (3/1), Black Friday (9/1), Retirement Beckons (50/1)

Verdict

This should chiefly concern Clubbable, Han Solo Berger and AUSTIN POWERS and it is the solid look to the last-named's latest outing that just gets him the vote. Both the other pair have potential when considering their first runs and it would be a huge surprise if either proved good enough on the day.
  1. Austin Powers
  2. Clubbable
  3. Han Solo Berger
