Rounded off her 2016 campaign with a pair of 6f victories at Newmarket and Nottingham (both good to firm) but has found life tougher this term from an elevated mark. This contest (grade lower) looks more realistic and conditions should be ideal with an up and coming rider in the saddle.
Seven time career winner who was twice a runner up in mid to late June over 7f at Goodwood and Lingfield. The drop to this shorter trip probably isn't ideal but he can be excused his latest Newmarket defeat (raced alone).
Has already notched a couple of 6f Lingfield successes in 2017 (AW and turf), so is clearly a versatile mare. She remains 4lb higher than for the latest of those victories, but ran a solid enough race from this mark when seventh of eleven to Goodwood Crusader at Newmarket last month.
Has a much better strike rate on the AW than on turf, and has largely disappointed in his last three starts (all over further) since winning at this trip at Chelmsford in early May. Placed from a higher mark at this track (7f) in September 2016.
In fine fettle since early May winning twice over this trip at Windsor and Haydock for Jamie Spencer. Given a 5lb rise for his latest narrow success, but conditions will hold no fears and a notable rider booked for the mount.
Pushed out to take a similar contest for this rider at Leicester late last month (5f good to firm), which was due reward after a pleasing second placed effort at Beverley. Up 4lb and seems to stay this trip, albeit appears a shade more consistent over shorter.
Both career successes have come at Leicester (5f and 6f) but seems to be gradually working into form this season and kept on without ever threatening the ready winner Handytalk (5½f) at Bath earlier this month. Seems to come good mid summer and is on a winnable mark with a leading rider booked.
Forecasts
Hart Stopper (6/4), Majestic Moon (6/1), Case Key (13/2), Syrian Pearl (13/2), Vimy Ridge (7/1), Diamond Lady (15/2), Plucky Dip (25/1)
Another leg of the Silk Series, which despite the small field is bound to be competitive with the likes of Georgia Cox, Hayley Turner and Serena Brotherton aboard some of the likeliest contenders. Turner takes over aboard Hart Stopper who has been in excellent form lately and has been given a 5lb rise for a narrow Haydock success, whilst Cox partners the top-weighted mare Syrian Pearl who is dropped in class tonight. Of the others, Vimy Ridge should be considered, but 5f is probably more his ideal trip, so Brotherton gets the nod aboard the Mick Appleby trained CASE KEY. This four-year-old is on a fair mark and is gradaully working into form this year and shouldn't be unduly troubled by trip, track or surface.
- Case Key
- Hart Stopper
- Syrian Pearl
