Won well on debut at Nottingham last time (5f, good to soft), but the form from that race isn't working out well at all (second and third both well beaten since), and his success probably also relies on him having his own way in front again.
Outclassed at Group 2 level last time but returns to a much more suitable level now having won on debut at Newcastle in June. This will be no easy task for him but he still looks one of the likelier contenders under a penalty.
Disappointing when narrowly beaten at Yarmouth last time out (5f, good to firm), having been sent off a very short price, but still holds the best form in the race on the basis of her debut victory at Lingfield and retains significant potential to improve if putting in a more professional performance.
Showed improvement from his first to second starts when going down by only a length at Newcastle over 6f. Step down in trip shouldn't be an issue and he has a part to play here, especially if improving again and handling the turf, which he races on for the first time.
Frozen Power gelding who cost £26,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to Always Win, a Listed-level winner over 6f. Interesting based on pedigree and certainly the the more appealing of the two newcomers.
Couldn't build on a promising debut when finishing seventh at Thirsk last time out (6f, good). It may be that softer conditions are a help to him, in which case any rain would obviously be a benefit here.
Has played only a small role in his two races so far, including when beaten 7¼L by Abel Handy last time out. There's no doubt that the second of his two runs so far was the better, but he still seems unlikely to find the requisite improvement to reverse form with that reopposing rival.
Kitten's Joy colt who cost £50,000 as a 2yo. Some speed in the pedigree but will probably prefer a bit further in time, and goes for a trainer scarcely renowned for juvenile winners (1/25 in the past five years).
Hasn't really figured in two starts so far, including one in selling company, and would need a significant step forward here to get involved.
Couldn't beat a rival on debut at Ripon last month but put in a slightly better performance at Beverley last time (5f, good to firm), when she managed to finish much closer despite meeting trouble in-running. Still likely to find this too challenging.
Forecasts
One Minute (11/10), Pilkington (9/2), Big Les (5/1), Abel Handy (7/1), Ganton Par (16/1), Tiger Lyon (16/1), Mabo (20/1), Peter Leonard (33/1), Daffy Jane (66/1), Where's Jeff (66/1)
This can go to ONE MINUTE. It was disappointing to see William Haggas' filly turned over at a short price at Yarmouth last time out but she ran very green throughout that race and retains significant scope to improve if overcoming that. Regardless of improvement, she probably sets the standard anyway on the basis of her debut victory at Lingfield and is taken to return to winning ways here. If allowed his own way up front again Abel Handy could prove tough to pass, though the form of his first-time-out win is hardly working out very well, while Big Les could also play a part if taking another step forward.
- One Minute
- Abel Handy
- Big Les
