Capable of some very good form over hurdles and fences but has been quite lightly raced over the last few years. Ran well over fences at Perth last time out (went a little better than usual/can run lazily) and this looks a lower level than he usually runs at and he's likely to take a hand here.

In very good form this time last year running up a four-timer over hurdles/chases and he scored again over hurdles in April. His last run at Haydock in May probably pointed to the fact that his mark was high enough now and he might find this tough off 145.

Now back with one of his former yards after being in the Mulholland stable of late and he scored by a wide margin (17L) over C&D last time out in a lesser grade. Bumped up 13lb for that win and will have to at his best to overcome that career high mark.

Scored around here over shorter in May off a 5lb lower mark in a lesser grade but couldn't follow-up that win over further last time out under a penalty. Given his last run there are question marks about this trip for him.

Went back-to-back with his wins in August/September over hurdles and comes here off the back of repeating the same trick on the Flat. Not seen out over hurdles since November but this looks tougher than his usual grade and he might just be a little high in the weights.

Verdict

Oscarteea won well last time but the handicapper took him to task for the decisive win and it remains to be seen if he can cope with the hefty weight rise. Both The Tourad Man and Sandymount have slight question marks against them in terms of weight and trip respectively with Dovils Date also looking to struggle off this mark. That leaves VOLNAY DE THAIX as the suggestion in an easier race than he probably usually contests off the back of a good run last time out over fences.
