5/2
Made all on his last start to get back to winning ways with first-time tongue-tie doing its job as he romped home by 6L. A drop in the weights may have also helped and he now finds himself back off an 8lb higher mark and one that he has struggled off before.

Has a decent record fresh and another positive is that he's slipped back below his last winning mark. However he wasn't in the greatest form when last seen so there are positives and negatives for this one.

One to be a little wary of and although he did win at Exeter in November from a 2lb lower mark and has been placed of late his free racing nature is a little off-putting. If he settled he could be trusted more but that trait make him an unattractive proposition.

His hurdles record reads quite well and he's switched back to the smaller obstacles here after running over fences the last twice. Not badly weighted on his past hurdles form although he could be in a little better form coming into this.

A debut winner in a Stratford bumper he had to wait for switch to handicap hurdles before winning again and doing so in smooth fashion off a mark of 106. Failed to follow-up that win albeit in a deeper race under less testing conditions when made favourite at Worcester but not written off with the yard in good form.

A massive 34lb out of the weights here and has very little chance of making and impression having shown little of late.

Forecasts

Sam Noir (2/1), Western Miller (5/2), Third Act (7/2), Kalifourchon (9/2), Cape Hideaway (6/1), Perseid (11/1), L'Es Fremantle (250/1)

Verdict

A few with questions to answer and Sam Noir will need to bounce back from a poor run last time out although he could do so. Cape Hideaway may well be in the grip of the handicapper now and despite the record fresh of Kalifourchon there are chinks in his armour. WESTERN MILLER may well therefore have a good chance of following up his Bangor win off an 8lb higher mark especially as he could gain an easy lead here.
  1. Western Miller
  2. Sam Noir
  3. Cape Hideaway
