Finished last of thirteen on debut in a Punchestown bumper in May, and whilst bred to do better over hurdles (half-brother to Laser Light), needs to improve on hurdles bow upped in trip wearing cheek-pieces.

Has shown some signs of promise in bumpers, and did okay on hurdles debut at Limerick, but seemed to regress slightly on his next start at Clonmel and needs this step up in trip in order to show more.

Finished fourth to Maduri in a 2m maiden hurdle at Gowran late last month, so not without a chance, but comfortably beaten over this trip at Roscommon prior to that improved effort.
4

Rear division finish on debut over this trip at Punchestown in late May, and needs to do much more to be involved with first time cheek-pieces added.

Not figured in a couple of spins over hurdles so far despite employing differing run style tactics. Feasible he's better than he's shown so far, but others hold much more compelling claims.

Ran very well at this level here in October (2m) when a runner up to Sanibel Island, and has broadly just about held his form since. The worry tonight is this extra yardage and he needs to prove he can handle the test before being recommended.

The hood is applied as his trainer seeks to break a frustrating run of placed efforts. However, there is no knocking his honesty, and he ran well on hurdles debut at Gowran last month when seeing off all bar Madurai (Crazywork De Vassy fourth). Up in trip, but should stay.
Little to enthuse about in four hurdles starts to date, and pulled up when upped to 3m at Cork in May. Can't be considered.

Moved on for £16,000 at Ascot in March after winning a Point-to-Point at Kildorrery in February (3m soft). Interesting rules/stable debutant.
Yet to race over hurdles but a five time winner in Point-to-Points. Been chasing of late and will surely find a few of these too sharp.

Yet to translate his winning Point-to-Point form to rules, and has tried a variety of trips to no avail since switched to hurdles. Tough to see him involved on what he's shown so far.

An infrequent winner in Point-to-Points (1 from 18) and hasn't shown much since going hurdling (both starts here over 3m). Drops in trip.

Beaten quite a distance, but ran his best race to date at Kilbeggan last week when third of 14 to Cinema De Quartier. Up in trip and that could bring about further limited improvement.
Ran a couple of decent races for his previous trainer at Cork during the spring (3m good) and holds a fair chance on those efforts. However, not so good back in a bumper on stable debut at Downpatrick recently. Market support could be informative.

Forecasts

Ken's Well (11/4), The Brig (11/4), Guitar George (11/2), Whatsinthecorner (7/1), Crazywork De Vassy (7/1), Carrigready (10/1), Present News (14/1), Get Smart (20/1), Mickey Shea (25/1), October Revolution (50/1), Unchago (50/1), Spud's Trouble (66/1), Winterberry (66/1), Fleetwood Jack (100/1), Barneymac (100/1), Lough Derg Lyric (100/1), Rudy Catrail (100/1)

Verdict

Little in the way of strength in depth, so despite concerns about the trip, Guitar George could feasibly be considered, whilst Whatsinthecorner looks a potential market springer. However, KEN'S WELL appears the pick on the strength of his recent hurdles debut at Gowran Park. He finished two places in front of Crazywork De Vassy when no match for clear winner Madurai. He has some largely consistent form in bumpers, and if the hood can bring about even a small amount of improvement he has every chance of finally shedding his maiden status.
  1. Ken's Well
  2. Crazywork De Vassy
  3. Mickey Shea
