Well held in two bumpers and a Redcar maiden. Looks set to go off at long odd once again.
Stable know the family well having had a couple of the dam's winners. Yard get few maiden winners, let alone on debuts, and this Equiano filly is one for the future.
Looks a shrewd buy at 20,000 gns being related to five winners including the very useful Roseburg, Listed winner Raydiya and prolific winners O Ma Lad and Best Reward. Yard are 0-24 over the past fortnight and she is worth noting for the future.
210,000 gns purchase who showed some promise on debut before getting worked up in the stalls on her return at Newmarket a month ago. Hood is retained but hard to recommend unless there is some market confidence.
Dansili half-sister to winners including the yard's top-class sprinter King's Apostle and Kalk Bay who won 10 races for them. Worth a market check although a trainer/rider record of 2-18 is lower than anticipated.
Oasis Dream filly out of a dam was a middle-distance winner. Stable are 15-54 with this age group around here for a 23 points level stake profit.
75,000 gns half-sister to several winners who were effective from 6f-2m. Had been easy to back before her withdrawal from her intended debut in an easier looking race at Thirsk two weeks ago.
50,000 gns daughter of New Approach who showed some promise on her Salisbury debut. Returned at the Craven meeting when she had nothing to race with up the centre of the track and faded coming out of the dip. Stable are still seeking their first winner of the year and the market should tell us whether this filly will end the drought.
Excelebration filly, 50,000 gns as a foal and 18,000 gns as a yearling. Dam an unraced half-sister to Group 1 winner Moon Ballad out of a half sister to Group 1 winner Central Park. Appears to be a work in progress and the hood is now removed. Doubtful she is up to this but worth monitoring with handicaps on the horizon.
Forecasts
Obeya (2/1), Lucky Lucrecia (5/2), Pretty Passe (7/2), South Sea Belle (9/2), Ghaseedah (16/1), Charlie's Dreamer (22/1), Velvet Charm (25/1), Compass Rose (33/1), Rambling Queen (100/1)
This is a race where experience has paid in the past. This time those to have raced do not look up to the standard required, although South Sea Belle would have less to find than the others. Wille Haggas saddles two well-related fillies, Lucky Lucrecia and Pretty Passe, and the market will probably get it right in relation to their prospects. OBEYA represents a yard in form and who do well with this age group around here. The stable landed this in 2015 and their filly is a tentative choice in a tricky race.
- Obeya
- Lucky Lucrecia
- Pretty Passe
