Produced a career best when winning 18-runner handicap hurdle at Clonmel (2m) 49 days ago. Has been raised 7lb for it, but demands attention again.

Well beaten in three maidens late last year at 2m - 2m2f, has a bit to find to get competitive in this but was probably always going to be seen to better effect once handicapping so improvement not ruled out.

Purseccoh62
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: R M Power| T: Mrs P Dobbs| OR:  104| D

Patchy record overall, scored in a maiden hurdle over 2m1f at Ballinrobe in August, failed to build on it in three handicap outings thereafter. Tailed off at Cork (2m4f) in May and plenty to prove.

C&D maiden hurdle winner last August and ran well at 50/1 when close third in Fairyhouse novice handicap on return to action in April. Should be competitive but others preferred for win purposes.

Scored off significantly higher mark over fences at Punchestown in April but couldn't repeat that effort over timber off much reduced mark since at Roscommon (2m). Upped in distance and does get some relief from handicapper.

Solid showing to be 3½L third in 2m hurdles contest at Kilbeggan last month on return from more than 200 days off (behind Persistent). Since won on the Flat at Limerick and on for the shortlist with cheekpieces back on now jumping again.

Won at Kilbeggan last month over sticks on handicap debut off an opening mark of 102, Smart claiming rider helps with the penalty and improvement expected regardless.

Still a maiden but has posted some fair efforts of late including a solid run at Punchestown three starts ago behind Bobabout. New trainer has not wasted much time coming out and interesting contender.

Dual winner at Limerick last month on the Flat including off a 5lb lower mark over an extended 1m4f on good-to-firm on his penultimate outing. Finished 3L third off a light weight at the Curragh latest and likely to be involved at the finish once more now back jumping.

No run since October 2015 and was out of form when last spotted, first start for new yard and best left to it unless market vibes are very good.

Once looked a decent prospect when in the care of Richard Fahey, though has lost his way somewhat since. Unplaced in five starts over timber so far and well held on the Flat last month at Leopardstown (1m5f).

Hasn't built on promising reappearance at Wexford over 2m off mark of 96 in two further starts. Drops 1lb now but has work to do seemingly.

Maudlin Magdalen13
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: R Loughran| T: D Kinsella| OR:  95| C

Mare was a useful handicapper on the Flat, no telling blows landed in four starts in maiden hurdles. Market check advised now sent handicapping over jumps.

Horse silk

Winner of just a seller on the Flat at Leicester for David O'Meara and form over hurdles for new yard uninspiring. Hard to see him troubling the principles.

Good form on the Flat (AW) this year but lacks the same potency at this game (0/8) and probably going to struggle again despite blinkers being back on.

Yet to score over hurdles but was remote third over 3m last time out at Wexford having previously run well at Tramore over 2m. Not an obvious winner but has some claims.

Ceide Fields (10/3), Persistent (7/2), Stormey (7/1), Bay Hill (7/1), Bakers Street (7/1), Konig Hall (8/1), Eight And Bob (11/1), Maudlin Magdalen (12/1), Ormskirk (20/1), Alterno (20/1), Ballinahow Bill (20/1), Caolaneoin (20/1), Pursecco (25/1), Specific Gravity (25/1), Eric The Third (25/1), Oighear Dubh (33/1), Sierra Law (33/1), Muroor (50/1), Mike McCann (50/1)

Verdict

Ceide Fields, on first start for this exceptional handler, is one to be noted in the betting although improvement is definitely needed. Stormey on the other hand produced a career-best last time out to win at Clonmel and can go well again while C&D winner Bakers Street might harbour some place claims. Maudlin Magdalen is another handicap debutant in this sphere to note but PERSISTENT and Konig Hall might be the two to focus on. The former scored at Kilbeggan on handicap bow and can improve now, while his claiming rider also helps. The latter was third home in that race and doesn't have a lot to find, though he may again settle for minor money.
  1. Persistent
  2. Konig Hall
  3. Stormey
