Decent hurdler but had been on the sidelines for 21 months before being pulled up on chase bow at Clonmel (2m4f) last month. Back jumping timber, not ruled out.
Sole win came in a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe but looks to be potentially a bit high in the weights for this handicap bow.
Winner of mares contest at Down Royal 13 days ago over extended two-miles, upped in journey and more needed on handicap hurdle debut taking on the boys.
Hurdles winner over 2m at Down Royal this month last year, perhaps a slight question over ability to see this out - especially coming off a break but has to be respected coming from Closutton.
Sightings since joining this yard last summer have been limited to just two and both have raised questions. First-time tongue tie applied here but overall looks one to give a watching berth to unless market speaks.
Won 3m1f handicap chase last month at Kilbeggan and has scope to do well at this level back over hurdles despite the significant drop in trip.
Is 5lb higher than when winning 2m handicap hurdle at Down Royal last August. Beaten 20L on the Flat (1m2f) at Fairyhouse last month on first start since October. Market can steer expectations back to this discipline.
Well held in seven starts since winning over 2m2f at Gowran Park (yielding) in October 2014 and probably best watched here.
Has something to find based on last month's Flat run but, off this rating, would have some hopes on old hurdles form if able to produce best stuff.
Decent hurdler for Ted Walsh, he must defy an absence here but is worth considering on first start for this yard.
Scored in really good fashion on debut for this yard last time out over 2m2½f at Downpatrick, rise in the weights looks fair and sure to be involved again it seems.
Won second time out for this trainer at Clonmel last month (2m4f, yielding) and 6lb rise certainly doesn't seem sure to halt progress for now.
Won a couple of times this year already over timber, both over significantly longer trips. Climbing in the weights as a result and while should be there again, might find one or two prove too fleet of foot.
No victory since May 2015, has generally been struggling in both codes this year and doesn't appear well handicapped for this with cheekpieces replacing blinkers.
Not beaten far Downpatrick last month on most recent hurdles outing (2m2f, good) and races off the same mark now having had a spin on the Flat since.
Forecasts
William B (5/4), Ask Susan (11/2), Just Janice (13/2), Myles Ahead (12/1), Bobarlee (12/1), Prince Garyantle (14/1), Mr Boss Man (14/1), Manuka (16/1), Face Value (25/1), Little Stampy (25/1), Benemeade (25/1), Black Benny (33/1), Highway Royal (33/1), Cogryhill (50/1), Paolozzi (66/1)
WILLIAM B was well-backed on his debut for this yard and duly obliged under Davy Russell, they've got more on their plate this time, but could well prove up to it and it will be another positive should the money be in their favour again. Just Janice also scored last time out over timber and has to go on any shortlist while Paolozzi and Manuka would have some chance on old form. Mr Boss Man is also greatly respected reverting to hurdles having won over fences last month. There are slight doubts over Bobarlee's stamina, but coming from the Mullins team, he has to be given a decent shout.
- William B
- Just Janice
- Bobarlee
