Dual-purpose performer is yet to get off the mark in either code after 19 attempts. Returned from layoff with fair effort over this kind of trip at Leopardstown a fortnight ago. Cheekpieces added now, could hold place claims.

First Flat run since 2014 brought 6½L defeat over 1m7f at Leopardstown recently, more needed now with blinkers added for the first time.

Going well enough in both codes this year, has a win over timber and went agonisingly close over 2m1f at Limerick in May. No issue with the trip here, though may be found wanting off this slightly higher mark.

Struggled badly in all six UK/Ireland starts to date, did run with a bit more promise last time at Naas over 1m2f (good to firm) when down significantly in trip but still left with a good deal to find.

Limited ability shown in five starts so far, held last time out in 1m2f Roscommon claimer. Stable continues to be in rude health however so market check merited.

16-race maiden who almost produced a shock in a Curragh handicap last autumn. Needs to bounce back from three performances this term that are well below that level and not certain step up in trip will assist.

Eight-race maiden on the Flat, has been toiling over hurdles recently (pulled up when last seen in May). Is off a lowly mark however so not totally ruled out.

Ran decent race over 1m5f at Navan around this time last year (beaten 4L) from a 2lb higher mark. Still a maiden on the Flat however and recent jumps form not that encouraging.

Doesn't appear to hold great hopes in this based on previous attempts in both codes, though did return from a layoff with decent showing at Ballinrobe last month when beaten under 8L over 1m5f.

A 13-race maiden on the jumps/Flat, he's got plenty to find switching to this discipline for the first time since August but has run well on occasion over hurdles since. Not the most reliable.

Running well enough at trips around 2m4f in recent hurdles outings, strictly has a bit to find back on the Flat and dropping back in trip.

Well beaten off all three starts this year, drops back in trip now and but remains 5lb out of the handicap and apparently best watched at the moment.

Verdict

Baby Jake ran well in a similar contest this time last year and may be ready to do again now back on the Flat, while Dancing Duke served notice of perhaps better to come last time out at Ballinrobe. Talsara has gone close on the level recently but got a hike in the ratings that may have sidelined hopes of a win for now. So many of these have questions to answer that GLASSON LAD might be the answer. He's been running well of late, albeit over longer trips jumping hurdles. But he is at least known to be in good heart and so receives a speculative vote in a tough contest.
  1. Glasson Lad
  2. Talsara
  3. Dancing Duke
