Won what is traditionally a strong maiden at Newmatket in April, but was last of five behind subsequent Royal Ascot winner Permian in a Listed event at the same track next time. Was heavily eased as though something had gone amiss and he has been given time to get over the problem. Unexposed and warrants maximum respect in his first handicap.
Trailblazer who could not get to the front in the Britannia at Royal Ascot on his last start. Does not hold too many secrets from the handicapper, but is a tough nut to crack when things go his way and is respected.
Rattled up a nursery hat-trick in the autumn, but his first two runs this season were far less productive. Back to form when winning a five-runner contest at Redcar last time, but this is much tougher.
Won the last of his three starts as a juvenile and returned with a win on the AW at Wolverhampton (7f) in April. Had first crack at a mile at Haydock last time when he was beaten only a head. Seems to like some cut in the ground and would not want the going to dry up too much.
Two wins and a second from three runs as a juvenile, but has not been quite so good so far at three. He finished fifth of 10 in a decent handicap at Newmarket on his reappearance and may been found wanting for stamina over 10f when miles behind in a valuable event at Newbury last time. This race looks more within his compass.
Won a Chelmsford maiden in March, but has been well held in two subsequent handicaps, displaying an awkward head carriage in one of them. Likely to be one of the outsiders.

Forecasts
Original Choice (5/4), Commander (3/1), Itsakindamagic (7/2), Night Circus (5/1), Andok (6/1), Thomas Cranmer (14/1), Mutahaady (20/1)
If Thomas Cranmer is allowed his own way up front he could be hard to catch, but there are some potential improvers from powerful Newmarket yards ranged against him. Original Choice and Commander have more to offer, but the really interesting one is top weight NIGHT CIRCUS who looked good when winning on his debut at Newmarket and clearly had a problem when well beaten in much better company next time. He has been given time to get over that and could be a well-handicapped horse. It is also too soon to be writing off Andok.
