Has a string of solid placed efforts to his name at this track already in 2017. Third in a 2m maiden hurdle here in May, he's improved further over 2m4f in handicap company (twice a runner up), and although well beaten on the Flat latterly holds strong claims despite the drop in trip and steady rise in the weights.
Left Noel Williams on the cheap at Doncaster in May (£1,800) and races for the first time for new connections. Well over 15 months since his sole success (March 2016) and not proved adept over fences since. Dropping back down the weights, but tough to fancy nevertheless.
Among the places with regularity over fences in Ireland this spring (2m to 2m4f), but broadly held from this mark over hurdles since winning at Punchestown (2m4f yielding to soft) in December. That said, this isn't the strongest contest, but 2m on good ground might just be a shade on the sharp side.
A five time Flat winner, but just the one success from 17 starts over hurdles (at Musselburgh in November 2016). Often travels well but doesn't produce the goods at the business end, but entitled to go well enough if judged upon his ¾L second to Sudski Star at Kelso in May.
15 race maiden and weakened after leading at Downpatrick on his most recent outing, but posted a couple of solid efforts at Down Royal prior to that start. Beaten by Fiesole on both occasions, his fourth placed effort (1st May) has been handsomely franked by runner up Triolet since. No back number in this company.
Has been forced to drop into selling company to be competitive over hurdles for the past eighteen months or so. Well beaten (17L) in that grade by Ballyrock at Fakenham in April, and he's struggled since (including over fences), so can't be fancied.
Forecasts
Dawerann (5/2), Ardview Boy (3/1), An Fear Ciuin (10/3), Weapon Of Choice (7/2), Changing The Guard (12/1), Bingo D'Olivate (33/1)
An Fear Cluin has run some solid races at this track without winning, rising steadily in the weights as a result, whilst Dawerann might have been the selection over a slightly longer trip. Weapon of Choice is often found wanting at the business end, so a tentative vote goes to ARDVIEW BOY. Whilst he remains a maiden, he's run a couple of decent races over this trip at Down Royal recently, and one of those efforts in particular reads well enough in the context of this contest.
- Ardview Boy
- Dawerann
- An Fear Ciuin
