Consistent from this mark in recent months and probably bumped into a well treated rival (My Renaissance) in a rather farcical contest at Cartmel in late May. Seems to run well for this rider whose 10lb claim is a major plus.
Very lightly raced and quite possibly not been the easiest to train. His sole win in 14 starts under rules came at Clonmel back in 2015 and not looked like getting his head in front since. Up in trip for the first time for this yard.
Consistent during the early months of the year (beaten a neck by Bollin Julie at Sedgefield in February; 2m4f heavy), but seemingly not at her best the last twice. Dropped a few pounds, but not a frequent winner and needs to up her game.
Won twice over C&D during 2016 from marks of 90 and 101, so could be considered on a winning mark. However, not looked anywhere near in the same form since November, but probably needed the race (after six months off) over an inadequate 2m here last month.
Has won on three occasions at this track, including over C&D in May 2016 (good to firm). Finished only fifth in that same contest this year and whilst dropping in the weights hasn't quite looked primed to strike just yet.
Placed in a bumper, and in a Market Rasen handicap hurdle for Karen McLintock in 2014/2015, but off the track for 16 plus months until returning for this trainer at Ayr in late January (pulled up). No further promise at Newcastle since, but worth noting in the market for any confidence with a tongue tie now added.
Bang out of sorts since returning from a lengthy absence in November, and has been pulled up in five of his eight starts during that period. Rapidly slipping down the weights, but impossible to recommend at present.
Didn't show anything over hurdles in two starts for Ollie Pears, and achieved nothing in two starts on the Flat for this trainer since returning from a lengthy absence. Always wise to respect every runner from this yard, but tough to see her involved.
Developed into a fairly consistent low grade staying handicapper on the AW over the winter (dual winner), but not much to show for nine attempts over hurdles. Dropped 3lb since finishing sixth of 15 to Bahrikate over 2m here in April.
A 27 race maiden over hurdles, but has managed to win on four occasions on the Flat. 3lb lower than when third to Pretty Miss Mahler over C&D in April, but others hold stronger claims.
Pulled up on four of his five starts over hurdles, including on his return from a nine month break at Hexham last month (3m novices hurdle). Wears the first time tongue tie.
Better over hurdles than on the Flat, and did finish 5¾L third to Onlyfoolsownhorses over C&D in May and races from a 1lb lower mark today. Not won since January 2015, but has some reasonable course form in the more distant past (mainly over 2m).
Three time hurdle winner (including twice over 2m at this track in 2013). Rated 96 for that second Perth success and now 18lb lower, and did win from a similar mark to this at Kelso in September. Probably needed his latest start.
Has been with a few yards over the years, and last won for this trainer at Hexham in May 2016 (2m4f). Her handicap mark has fallen considerably since then (& continues to do so) but that's largely because she's been bang out of form.
Won just once in 44 career starts (over 2m at Uttoxeter in 2012), and has raced just once (fell heavily here over fences) since October 2015.
Poor former point-to-point racer who appears to be rapidly in decline. No reason to suspect turnaround at these unfavourable weights.
Forecasts
Bell Weir (9/4), Green Zone (6/1), Ronaldinho (15/2), Urban Kode (8/1), Cadore (9/1), Byronegetonefree (12/1), Sultana Belle (14/1), Apachee Prince (16/1), Momkinzain (16/1), Heaven Scent (20/1), Knockrea (22/1), Dizoard (25/1), The Last Leg (33/1), The Conn (66/1), Agricultural (66/1), Raifteiri (100/1)
A rather motley looking bunch in this low grade handicap hurdle, and with no single horse standing out, it's best to concentrate on previous course winners. Momkinzain probably needed his latest start, so there might be better to come from him, whilst Cadore is handicapped to run a solid enough race. Byrongetonefree improved at Newcastle (AW) over the winter, so it's not entirely ruled out that he can finally come good over hurdles, whilst Bell Weir is clearly handicapped to win, but seems to have forgotten how to do so nowadays. Therefore, with 2m an inadequate test last month, GREEN ZONE is a speculative shout in the hope that he can recapture the sort of form that saw him win twice over C&D during last summer.
- Green Zone
- Cadore
- Bell Weir
