Just touched off in a very similar race to this at Sandown (5f, good to firm) last time out. Up 3lb for that, as well as back up in trip (has won over 6f), but is largely consistent, especially on fast ground. Looks a leading player.

Both of his wins have been over 5f on the All Weather, but he has run with credit in all four starts on turf, during which time he has shown a bit of improvement. His sire appreciated fast ground, so hopefully he won't mind it this quick and a 1lb drop should enable him to get competitive.

On a losing run of 15 since he scored on debut at Windsor (5f, good) in April 2015. 1lb lower than when beaten 1½L at Goodwood (7f, good) in May, though has a bit to prove now back over this shorter trip, judged on his run last time out.

Scored over 5f on good to firm at Redcar this time last year and went close at Epsom later in the season from a mark of 74. Back on that same peg today after being well beaten on his reappearance. Was entitled to need that and we could see a much better effort this time.

Appears to go on any ground, including firm, with her last win being here over 5½f on it last August. Races from the same mark again today and has already gone very close back here over C&D in May, so she could go very close again.

Won a 6f Lingfield maiden (good to firm) in August, though has been well beaten in two handicaps this term, including over C&D. A 2lb drop will help and this race is weaker than his last one at Leicester, so he may now be good enough to make his presence felt.

Both his wins so far have been at Leicester (5f & 6f), including one on good to firm. 2lb higher than the last of those going into this and ran well from this mark in first-time cheek pieces last time out. If they have a similarly positive effect this time then he can have a say.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: S Hitchcott| T: R Harris| OR:  67| C

Won here over 5f (good to soft) in maiden company last August, but has been firmly in the grip of the handicapper since then. Hard to fancy in a competitive event.

Forecasts

September Issue (3/1), Handytalk (4/1), Sfumato (4/1), Royal Mezyan (13/2), Silverrica (7/1), Dyllan (7/1), Case Key (10/1), Secret Potion (40/1)

Verdict

A few of these have claims here, with Sfumato a potential challenger now dropped in grade and September Issue another with decent credentials. Dyllan and Silverrica are others who can make their presence felt, though preference is for ROYAL MEZYAN, who goes well on fast ground and looks a very solid option despite a 3lb rise for his latest narrow defeat.
  1. Royal Mezyan
  2. Sfumato
  3. Silverrica
