Did win an Irish point-to point back in April, and interesting in as far as the yard do well with their raiders over here, but will surely find this trip very much on the short side and he looks to have too much to find on form anyway.

Newcomer from a yard that rarely have success in this sphere, and breeding suggests he might struggle to get the trip as well. Can only be watched today.

Still a maiden and of no great account on the Flat, but has turned in a couple of reasonable efforts over hurdles, his close third at Fontwell in April the highlight. Conditions fine and can be considered for the places at least.

Showed a bit of ability in maiden and novice company before improving for the first run in a handicap at Market Rasen, finishing a close second, but disappointing he couldn't build on that at Huntingdon when turned over at odds-on. Obvious chances again here.

Hasn't set the world alight in four starts over hurdles but some promise to be taken from his fifth at Newton Abbot in May. Ran well below that form at Bangor last time but first time tongue tie may help the situation, Too soon to write off, and not discounted.

6/1
Useful stayer on the Flat for Andrew Reid, and rated 80+ at his best, but hasn't really translated that form over hurdles yet. Might find this too sharp a test as well, and although chances of getting in the places if they go quick, others are preferred.

Moderate on the Flat and hurdles but in good form at present, and ran well to finish second to an improving type on the Flat recently. Has shown promise on both hurdles starts and if settling a bit better here, may well get in the shake up.

Twice a winner at a mile on the Flat, and turned in a perfectly respectable first effort over hurdles when third to Gannicus at Fakenham. However, that form has already taken a few knocks and more is needed here.

Forecasts

Jodies Jem (2/1), Mister Universum (7/2), Zephyros (9/2), Ritasun (5/1), Treasure The Ridge (6/1), Damut I'm Out (16/1), Jackblack (25/1), Good Event (125/1)

Verdict

Jodies Jem would look the one to beat here, but it was disappointing that he couldn't finish the job off at Huntingdon last time and it might be worth chancing MISTER UNIVERSUM now the tongue tie goes on. He couldn't finish his race off last time either, but a better effort might be expected now the breathing aid is used. The yard continue in good form and this may be another winner. There are races to be won with Zephyros if he settles better and he's not out of this. Jackblack is another to consider for placepots.
  1. Mister Universum
  2. Jodies Jem
  3. Zephyros
