Returned to winning ways in cheekpieces for the first time at Wolverhampton last month, but is effective on turf, too, as he showed when successful as a juvenile at Chester. Has a 6lb penalty to cope with, but is in form and merits serious consideration with the headgear retained.

Experienced campaigner who has undergone a new lease of life on his last two starts with wins over C&D and at Lingfield. He was particularly impressive last time and looks a big player under his penalty.

Looked progressive when winning twice last summer, but has not been able to recapture that sparkle on recent outings. Has slipped to an attractive mark and would be of interest if recent form was more encouraging.

Only win came at Southwell in January, 2016, but is 15lb lower than his career-high mark and can certainly be competitive if putting his best foot forward. Not much encouragement in his recent Pontefract display, however.

Forecasts

Come On Dave (11/10), Super Julius (5/4), Something Lucky (5/1), Very Honest (9/1), Kestrel Call (12/1)

Verdict

Super Julius and Come On Dave are in good form and have obvious chances, but both are vulnerable under their penalties and SOMETHING LUCKY may be the one to benefit. He has not won for a long time, but his last two starts have shown the fire still burns to a degree and he is undeniably well handicapped. Very Honest is another slipping down the weights and could make his presence felt.
  1. Something Lucky
  2. Come On Dave
  3. Super Julius
