Appears to be a much better animal on the AW these days and his last two runs on turf haven't really provided any inspiration. Given his recent form can only be watched here continuing to run on turf.
Hasn't impressed in two runs here before but has looked better of late and returned to his real best last time out taking advantage of fall in the weights when winning at Wetherby over 1m2f. Up 6lb for that win he faces a tougher test here if he's to back-up that win.
A course winner over shorter last year the win was the first of four last year which ended well when he won his last two starts on the AW over 1m4f and 1m2f. He ran with great credit on his other starts also but despite coming into this on a hat-trick after an absence and he doesn't have any great record fresh (0/5 off breaks of 150+ days).
Winner of a mile maiden here on his first run for this yard with headgear off on soft going he's never really gone on from that run in handicaps. Visor now on for the first time but really does need to show more than he has in handicaps.
Irish raider from a stable (and owner) that do well here and indeed won her maiden here on her second start over a mile. Failed to build on that win over further (1m3f) last time and now makes her handicap debut over the same trip so hard to be convinced but should do better in this sphere.
Failed to score in a maiden (probably ran over trips too short) but upped in distance for handicap debut he produced some much improved form as his pedigree suggested it would. Followed up under a penalty again showing a very good attitude (found plenty for pressure) and there looks to be more to come especially over further and appears to go on any surface.
Cheekpieces are now added to the tongue-tie that he's always worn and he looked to take a step forward last time out on the AW at Kempton Park over 1m4f (travelled strongly; but didn't look straightforward). Now makes his handicap debut off a mark that he should be able to cope with and is the first runner at the track for his trainer.
Looked raw as a juvenile and did so on his first start this year but he really did step forward last time with the blinkers on for the first time when running well at Carlisle over 1m3f. Blinkers are retained here and he looks a typical improver from this yard who will get better the further he goes.
Failed to back-up his Beverley win last time at Ripon and didn't look comfortable at the trip (1m2f) which was a surprise as he'd looked well suited by it. Probably deserves another chance off a mark like this to show what he can do as he's bred to be better than this grade.
Forecasts
Qaviy Cash (15/8), Archi's Affaire (2/1), What Wonders Weave (13/2), Powerful Love (15/2), Reinstorm (16/1), Vizier (20/1), Auxiliary (25/1), Spes Nostra (33/1), Galilee Chapel (40/1)
With plenty of them wearing some sort of headgear in this it may be a contest to be a little wary of and the power looks to lie with the three-year-olds. ARCHI'S AFFAIRE is developing into a nice sort and shows a good attitude and his form so far entitles him to the advantage of the likes if Qaviy Cash, Powerful Love and Reinstorm all of whom have claims. Of the older brigade Auxiliary needs to improve to cope with his rise in the weights while Galilee Chapel is best watched on his reappearance.
- Archi's Affaire
- Reinstorm
- Qaviy Cash
