Very consistent last year apart from his last run on the season but soon got back on track this year with a very good win at Chester last time out off a mark of 82 when he showed a good turn of foot off a decent pace. That win in good fashion has forced him into a better grade and he'll need to improve again to get involved off a career high mark.

A winner on his debut last year at Carlisle over 1m1f he was tried over longer trips after that including once over 2m. His previous efforts had suggested that he could win a handicap though and he got things back on track here on his penultimate start over a furlong shorter in first-time cheekpieces. Switched to a visor last time and whilst running creditably he didn't look the easiest of rides.

Tough hard knocking handicapper who wins his races in his turn and although his last three wins have come on the AW he is equally effective on turf. Blows hot and cold but it would be no surprise to see him win out of the blue as his can do off a mark that he is capable of winning off.

Both his Flat wins have come on the AW (has won on turf over hurdles) and he more than likely needed the run last time out (first run since being gelded and first run in cheekpieces on the level). The 1m2f of that contest was probably sharp enough and this trip should suit better although his mark still looks stiff enough.

Irish raider who likes to race prominently which means he'll face pace pressure here but ran to his best when beaten into second here over shorter by Gaelic Tiger. He was highly tried last year (ran twice in Listed company) and remains of interest after his handicap debut off a 1lb higher mark.

Out-and-out front runner who may face a battle for the lead here but does have a verdict over Gaelic Tiger this year when winning at Beverley (was in good heart at the time). His last three runs have looked to show that he's gone off the boil.

Still just has the one win to his name and has mixed hurdles and racing on the Flat since then that win coming in a Ripon maiden. Has looked in good heart on the Flat of late though and should continue to give a good account although his overall profile tempers enthusiasm.

Mister Belvedere23

9/4
The only three-year-old in the field he showed his best form when winning over 7f at Carlisle on soft as a juvenile. Ran creditably last time out stepping up on his handicap debut without necessarily looking as though 1m2f suited him and takes on another 2f here whilst looking as though he could do with an easing of his mark.

Forecasts

Mister Belvedere (9/4), Warp Factor (3/1), Al Destoor (4/1), My Brother (13/2), Gaelic Tiger (7/1), Sennockian Star (14/1), Cape Of Glory (25/1), Be Perfect (40/1)

Verdict

Just about the classiest race of the night with Al Destoor up in grade and trying to defy a tough mark and Gaelic Tiger while looking a potential improver appearing to be a hard ride on occasions. With a couple in Be Perfect and Sennockian Star that like to go on this should be run at a good pace and it may well be worth taking a chance with MY BROTHER. His trainer is always to be respected with his raiders and he was highly tried on occasions last year. Despite a poor win-to-run ratio Warp Factor enters the picture especially as his stable/owner have a good record at this track.
  1. My Brother
  2. Al Destoor
  3. Warp Factor
