Scored over this trip on good to soft at Brighton two starts ago and goes into today's contest 2lb higher and on the same mark from which he went close back at that venue over 7f (good to firm) last time. Consistent and has very solid claims if he can perform as well away from his beloved Brighton.
Ended a lengthy losing run when popping up at Newmarket (6f, soft) last month, for which he has gone up 2lb. Nonethless, he can generally be relied upon to run to a level of form that should see him very much thereabouts again today. Acts well on a sound surface.
Has a good ground win to his name, though his other three successes have all been with cut in the ground, so rain would help. Now on a mark 3lb lower than the last of those, at Bath last year, and has shown enough in recent runs to suggest that his next win may not be too long in coming.
Beat Black Caesar ¾L in receipt of 8lb at Brighton last month and meets that reopposing rival on the same terms today. Won over C&D from 1lb lower last season but never really in it at Salisbury from this mark last time out (6f, good to firm) and has a bit to prove.
Hard to catch right and without a win since 2015, but came back to form with a decent effort at Chepstow (6f, soft) last time. Goes into this on the same mark and has claims, although would definitely prefer some rain to aid his cause.

Forecasts
Captain Bob (2/1), Black Caesar (5/2), Champagne Bob (3/1), Oeil De Tigre (5/1), East Coast Lady (5/1), Chetan (6/1), Justice Rock (10/1), Perfect Pastime (12/1)
Black Caesar should again go well, though he does seem to prefer Brighton to anywhere else and his conqueror at that venue last time, Perfect Pastime can probably confirm those placing with him if he can shrug off a moderate effort of his own last time out. Champagne Bob has claims, especially if there is any easing in the ground, but preference is for CAPTAIN BOB, who is consistent in these sort of races and has less negatives than the majority.
