C&D winner whose form has tailed off slightly recently with a higher handicap weight. Has shown his best form at this course, however, and has an ideal draw to make an impact here on the same mark as last time. Not discounted.
Has been campaigned over shorter recently but is proven over this trip (and further), including on this surface. Has looked handicapped to his best recently, however, and could be playing for a place at best here.
Not denied a hat-trick by far last time out at Leicester but may have been beaten by his 7lb rise in the weights. On the same mark now but is reunited with a jockey who knows who him well and cannot be ruled out.
Couldn't improve for a switch to a new yard last time having put in lackluster performances in general so far in 2017. Would have a chance on his best form and mark is rapidly sinking, but needs to return to that to have any say.
Hasn't been at his best so far this year with some disappointing efforts over this trip, despite his mark not being all that much higher than some good performances last year. May not have trained on, and didn't look all that effective on his previous try at this course.
Not at his best so far this year but would be right there on his best form from last year. Down a further 2lb and is a previous winner on the all weather.
Only previous victory came over C&D but has run with merit on his other three starts as well. Looks on a suitable mark on the basis of a fine third two starts ago and has scope for further improvement. Very interesting.
Won over C&D three starts ago, but has shown much more modest form off a higher weight at Doncaster the last twice. May not have stayed an extended distance on one of those two occasions and cheek pieces are added now.
C&D winner two starts ago and has shown much of his best form on the all weather so far. Races from out of the handicap now but could challenge for a place.
Forecasts
Excel Again (11/8), Inaam (5/1), Kodiac Khan (7/1), Amood (10/1), Nick Vedder (11/1), Champion Harbour (11/1), Roman De Brut (12/1), Zealous (25/1), Jordan James (25/1)
The one who appeals most is EXCEL AGAIN. He has run very well on the Tapeta in the past, including over C&D, and looks a better handicapped option than most of his rivals here and most importantly has by far the most scope for further improvement. Inaam needs to defy top weight but is well drawn and would have an excellent chance if returning to his best form, while Roman De Brut is reunited with a promising apprentice in Charlie Bennett, who has won on him twice in the past.
- Excel Again
- Inaam
- Roman De Brut
