Dual point-to-point winner who was an 11L runner-up in a maiden hunter chase over C&D (soft) last month, but then fell when struggling badly at Stratford last time. Has his work cut out to get competitive today.
Previously rated in the 130s over hurdles, but that was five years ago and he has clearly had his problems, seeing the racecourse only once since December 2013. Second start for this yard and interesting that he has still been kept in training at this age after another two year gap, so positive market vibes would be good for this much-delayed chase debut.
Was in reasonable form for Sophie Leech before joining this yard after a selling hurdle win at Exeter (2m1f, good to soft) in March. Yard (who do have winners here) has had two sighters over hurdles with him and he now goes back over fences with a bit to prove on the evidence of his two previous attempts.
Has two 2m1f course wins to his name on good/good to firm ground. Stays 2m3½f, though didn't convince he got a similar trip to this over hurdles here last time. Concerns also over his ability to produce his best on this ground on his belated chase debut.
Yet to win from 24 attempts, 16 of them over fences. Very moderate performer who was last of five, beaten 75L in a selling hurdle last time and is impossible to fancy.
You have to go back as far as October 2014 to find the only win on his CV from 33 attempts and the fact that he has been placed 13 times gives him a vulnerable-looking profile. Now stepped up slightly in trip and has the ability to have a big say. Handles cut well enough, but wouldn't be one to wager the life savings on.
Won both a bumper and a novices' hurdle when there was cut in the ground and has been in reasonable form over hurdles this year. Pedigree suggests that this step up in trip is a positive for her chase debut and with a good pilot up she could go close.

Verona Opera (7/4), The Herds Garden (5/2), Smart Ruler (7/2), Flycorn (8/1), Paddocks Lounge (10/1), Bedford Forrest (12/1), Aiaam Al Namoos (14/1), Sussex Road (100/1)
Very poor fayre where VERONA OPERA might prove good enough to see them all off now stepped up in trip for her chase debut. Presumably the fragile Flycorn retains some ability, for him to be kept going until the age of 11 without seeing many racecourses in several years and of course Stuart Crawford will know more about which has the better chance, so do check out the market for clues. The Herds Garden is the only other runner of any significant interest.
